Dan's Argento FR-S

Hey guys and gals!

Been wanting and FR-S for a while now. When my '03 Cavalier Z24 suddenly bit the dust in Jan 2013, I wasn't in a place to afford an FR-S, so I ended up purchasing a 2013 Scion tC.

I really liked the car because of its versatility (hatch back, I can sit behind myself and Im 6') but I never really loved the car.

Back in Dec I started doing my research about getting an FR-S. Spoke with a few dealerships that low balled me on my trade in, or kept increasing the price of a new FR-S almost every week.

Finally about 4 weeks ago I found a dealership that has a 2013 Argento FR-S (6M) with the new 2014 touch screen.

Car has 20% tints all round, fog lights, block heater and will be on 205/55/16 general tire altimax arctic's for the winter.

The car is being shipped today/tomorrow so I should have it beginning of next week!

Really excited to get the car!!

Dan

Picked up the car on the 14th with 18km on the clock. Love this car already. Just installed my weather tech floor mats, shorty antenna, led license plate lights and GrimmSpeed license plate relocation bracket.

Still tweaking the final position

I had 15 minutes of spare time today so I decided to install my smoked side markers from @fteightysix

Heres the video I used to help me with the install

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MxukMxgPVQ"]JDM Clear Side Markers Lens - Unboxing, Install and Review - 2013 Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S - YouTube[/ame]

If anyone is intimidated to try this , don't be, its a 2/10. It would be a 1/10 but it took a bit of oomph to pop the light out. I didn't have a screw driver short enough to pop the light out so I used an allen key. Its also a very snug fit to pop the new ones in!

I won't post before pictures because everyone knows what the amber side markers look like, but here is the end result. Enjoy!

It's been a while since I updated this thread. A few things have changed.

Did the first oil change at 2557km, using Amsoil OE 0w20 and an oem filter.

I swapped the oem fog lights for Nokya 3000k H11 bulbs, installed my RA mudflaps, Toyota GT86 badge swap, and put in some 5000k HID's.

Also got a Nikon D3100 so not all the pics will be crappy cellphone pics lol.

Here are some pictures from the new camera..

And a few others from my Z30

RA mudflaps

TWM Big Type R

5000k HID's and 3000k Nokya bulbs

Starting to plan for next season, and I need some advice on wheels. So far the car is stock height, but will probably be picking up some RCE Yellows (or something for a similar ~1" drop) this winter.

Forgive me in advance, but I have a few questions. I did search so I'm pretty sure these will fit with out any rubbing but figured Id ask just to be safe.

I'm looking that the following rims and thinking about running a 225/45/17 (or if I can a 245/40/17)
17x8.0 +35 OZ Ultraleggera
17x8.0 +45 OZ Ultraleggera
The +45 would be more sunk into the wheel wells correct? Does anyone think I have any rubbing issues?

The car wont be a track monster, just a fun DD and occasional (4-5 x per year) auto-x.

Thanks everyone!!

Dan

I ordered some LED's for my reverse lights and license plate lights on the 28th, from @diodedynamics, and they came in the mail today

First thing I noticed was that everything was packaged really nicely (the leds we wrapped in some cardboard then in the bubble wrap envelope)

Here they are:

I wasn't a fan of the oem bulbs and their yellowish hue, I was looking for something clean and modern. After reading reviews I decided to pm Nick and ask a few questions. With in 30 minutes I had a reply with all my answers (pretty impressed to have a reply that quickly).

Anyways back to the bulbs, I ordered the license plate lights in 'Cool white' with the SMD1 bulb and the reverse lights in the SMD13 version. Ill post links at the bottom of this post if anyone wants to seem them.

Installation was a breeze other than trying to reach my hand under the car to get the old reverse lights out (I ended up taking out some of the clips to make life a bit easier)

Here is a quick comparison of the bulbs. LED on the left and OEM on the right.

I will try to take some pictures tonight also..
