I'm using the OEM piece right now, as I've mentioned in first post, but I've also ordered the shaft of that Raceseng brand. I intend to combine it with the Sparco red tow strap I have.

I don't understand why Perrin would have a product line like this for show, to be honest, considering they are not a 'cosmetics' manufacturer. I think they should just remove it, or replace the material with something that can withstand heavier use. Oh well..

What's wrong with the stock one?

I don't know that Perrin would be my first choice for anything in their lineup. As much as they're not a "cosmetic" brand, they're not a racing brand either.

In Perrin's defense, they clearly state on their product description that it is not a real tow hook.

And to be even more fair...
Didn't OP say he was trying to put it on a "Roll Back" style wrecker, or even lower per his pics.

If your goal with leaving a tow hook on all the time is to convince others that you track your car, wouldn’t this product do the opposite of that. I mean I alway used to just smirk at guys that did that - now I am outright going to point and laugh.

Probably work fine if you cut an angle in that wood.
Or get some race ramps.

Because it's cheap to design/make and people will buy it.

"They" shouldn't do anything. You bought the part and then used it in a way that isn't accordance with their disclaimer.........what did you expect?

They shouldn't even be selling an aesthetic mod that looks like a mechanical mod...

Disclaimer or not. No way for a tow truck driver to know a component is/isn't rated for the purpose in the heat of a recovery...
