Do you sell a kit for this? I'd be interested.

Not yet, still perfecting the canbus setup for 100%. Also the Toyota security is a problem. I have not had any issues with it but recently the immobilizer went bad and replacing the immobilizer wont work for me since I don't have techstream. I was trying to avoid doing full stand alone just to keep cost down but now I have to. Once I have everything dialed in to where anyone can do the swap I will release a kit.

Yo....

So, I have the privilege of living near this build and getting to see it in person regularly. If it weren't for the big hole in the hood, you'd never know it wasn't stock. The work is that nice and the planning really paid off.

I got involved when srscion had a fueling issue that was traced back to the fuel filter clogging.

The cars use a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) mat fuel filter. srscion gave me the filter to examine (I'm a chemist with access to a nice analytical lab) in hopes of finding out what was plugging it up.

I examined the exterior of the filter, which smelled of fuel, and found no unusual materials. Typically, one finds sand, calcium, and other mineral deposits. None here.

I opened the filter, expecting to find smaller particle size materials, and yeah, nothing.

I was able to identify the material by infrared scanning, and from there contacted some manufacturers of PET materials for fuel filters. They advised that they have seen this before and it is related to fuel contamination, specifically in E85, and small gels form on the fuel filter surfaces (very tiny!) which block flow. The major challenge is that these materials all evaporate once the filter is exposed to air, so it is nearly impossible to track down the actual cause. Without bagging the filter and running it to the lab immediately, the likelihood of finding the actual materials that gelled up is not happening. Typically, when there is residue on a base material, the baseline of the scan will be awful. This is much closer than I expected, confirming what my PET peeps said.

So, this was a disappointing analysis because it did not have a result other than someone sold some crappy fuel.

Just wanted to touch base, I have been busy working some further refinements out as well as the final design on the hood adaptation for this swap. I had to push things back a bit but its still on track for release. Thanks for your patience.

Nice! Did you finalize the method, material, and builder to get the hood done?

Yes. I was going to start taking pre-orders and then the pandemic happened so it has all my contacts for making parts in limbo.
