Good fucking luck. Even in local classifieds groups I've been seeing hilariously high asking prices for used cards. 800ish for 1070s, 650ish for 1060s. Some people have listed new in box 1080's for 1500.

Probably won't see prices come down until manufacturers can keep up with demand, or the bottom falls out on mining. Hopefully, the bottom falls out on mining, and market will be FLOODED with tons of cards, for hopefully cheap as balls.

Its not just video cards. Memory prices have gone through the roof as well its insane. The same 1080 I have that I bought 2 years ago new for $580 is listed for over $1000 right now on newegg....

I wouldn't buy a GPU that was used for mining unless it's dirt cheap.
I don't like the idea of buying a GPU that's potentially been running 100% for days on end.

Another option is to set up a notification browser extension to auto refresh the product pages every 30s-1min to check for changes in stock and notify you by email/text. I had success with this when the 1080 first launched and got one within a few days.

Definitely look at the NVIDIA or a manufacturer site to order from if you can. Those shouldn't be marked up past MSRP.

Yea, good recent article from ExtremeTech on how it's now less expensive for the first time in a long time to buy a preconfigured system than to build your own for gaming because of the mining craze.

Its honestly shameful to think that large companies like newegg should be allowed to mark these units up so much over msrp.

I forgot that my ram has nearly doubled in price since I bought it in August.

I don't really have much of an issue with it, supply and demand. If people weren't willing to pay it, they couldn't charge it.

Then again, I'm not in the market for the moment so I might feel differently if I was trying to buy one.

There is supply and demand then there is price gouging. Lets say there was a city evacuation and all the gas station owners raised the price of gas nearly double what it was worth. People would be up in arms. But since its "supply and demand" people don't have much to say about it...I am not in the market for one at this point either. I bought mine when it was 1st released for the steal price of $580 for a 1080 gigabyte g1 gaming. I am all for people making a extra buck for being in the right place at the right time with the right product but where does it end...

It's the rationing effect of supply and demand.

The increased prices lower demand and encourage an increase in supply until some sort of equilibrium is reached.
