It totally saved us once in SJ when a power pole came down in our backyard during a storm. We were out of power for 7 days. I could run a fridge or freezer, tv, and blower for the gas fireplace all at once, if you plugged them in in the right order.

Power went out here in Idaho a few days ago got me thinking I better get it running again.
So, THE power line went down?

I had a first gen once upon a time. Bought it for $50, got it running and sold it a few weeks later for $200.

Nice~ hopefully you got it fixed for dirt cheap.

I've always liked first gen Celica more then 240/260/280Z.

Was 40 years ago so I don't remember what all it needed but I probably just cleaned plugs and points and rebuilt the carb. I doubt I would have put more than $5 or $10 into it.

Within .2 sec of the fastest time of the week in F3 car at Laguna. The FOV of the monitor was too wide and I kept loosing where my front tires where and would drop one on the exit of turns. The guy that set the fastest time was ahead of me and used VR. I was too hung over to.

Hello all. Is there a way to get text highlights (for my search results), on each page it's listed on, throughout this website? I'm in a crunch for time. Thanks

forget it - I figured it out

Bottom line - was it all that? Is it transformative for the sim, or was it more like a, "Well, that was interesting" experience?

I would say no. If it was optimized a bit it would have been much better, but still a no. The one thing that sims absolutely lack is the reference of speed. The motion rig helped with that, but not to the degree VR does and at a ridiculous price. That motion rig was 100k. VR with the motion rig is pretty damn good when compared to the real thing, but the motion rig isn't a necessary part of the equation to get a good experience.

Recently started "For All Mankind" on Apple+. Caught this public health poster from 1964 in an episode of the season released before the covid pandemic. Seemed prescient.

That's too bad. WAY too expensive, even for some commercial arcade operation or whoever their target market is.

I have been to a few places that have 4-6 station sim racing VR setups and it is super cool, but they are never popular. They take up a large footprint, require a surprising amount of staffing, and are expensive so you don't get a lot of "re-rides." Plus the target demographic is very small and VR tends to make people sick. At a driving school or a place like Dirtfish they do well, but that is really honing in on the demographic. I honestly kept looking at that thing wondering who the hell would buy it. Talking with the guys that built it they said they are booked up with orders till May and may run into 2023 at the pace they were going with sales I couldn't imagine they could get away with charging less than a couple bucks a minute to make the thing profitable.

I don't have anything close, but I do have 4 shakers in my setup. I think that it's like a direct drive wheel: it doesn't make you faster, but it can really help with consistency. When I've forgotten to start simhub or lose wheel feedback (sometimes I accidentally kick the emergency shut off... No ffb without a full restart so useless mid-session) it's easy enough to compensate, but I have to be a little more cautious. Get off line or a little out of sorts and there's less info to work with.
I imagine full motion is largely gimmick... But it would bring just that bit more feednpback. With practice, useful.
Besides, it's just money.
