I had aftermarket wheels without TPMS on my BMW that I had before my BRZ, and there was literally no way to turn off the giant, glowing red TPMS warning symbol on your dash. So i had to stare at it every day for about 2 years until I traded the car in. So, to hell with TPMS. LOL

I can confirm, mine's a 2015 and has no TPMS from factory in Canada. Which is indeed great if we have to swap summer/winter tires every 6 months.
You can install TPMS on aftermarket wheels, but you will have to buy and install 4 sensors, which is an extra $300 or so.

Mine did not have TPMS. I've swapped and sold wheels several times now without bothering with TPMS at all and no lights on the dash. As others, I prefer this, no hassle when changing wheels which I do frequently. I check the pressure myself every week or two so I have a good idea if something is going on.

I think TPMS is ridiculous, can't you just keep an eye on/gauge your tires regularly?
I say this but often get caught behind some SUV on the highway with two flats. People complain about cars being unreliable, but if tires alone are any indicator of the average owner... But seriously manufacturers, put a bool in the software to kill the TPMS light! |
