Red starter button?

Has anyone installed one of these red starter buttons into a 2013-2019 BRZ:

https://store.ijdmtoy.com/products/a...sories-gadgets

I've always wanted a red starter button to match the red exterior (and shift knob), but can't justify the >$200 or effort for the complete JDM starter button assembly.

Thanks!

The USDM red start button (83031CA024 I believe) is plug and play and *only* $100 + shipping.

I imagine you'll be happier with an OEM piece than the one you listed.

Probably, but it’s hard for me to justify either spending $100, or the effort to remove the entire starter switch, just to get a red button.

Since the one you linked is just a cover I doubt you can go to far wrong with it.

It certainly looks like a bargain price I'd be happy to pay. I was wondering if anyone had installed it on their car.

Such as, is complete removal of the starter switch required to swap the buttons? Or can it be done in the car? The only video I found of a similar button showed it being removed with the starter switch out of the car.

Not the 1st gen, but I installed a similar button on my 2022 BRZ. I got mine from Import Image Racing, but it looks exactly the same as the one you linked and came with the same hardware.

Here's a video showing how to install it on the 2nd gen, but the process should be the same for the 1st gen.

I'll add that I didn't follow the video exactly. I just left the switch assembly in the car while I removed the button with the wire tool. There's really no reason that you'd need to take the switch out of the car for this. In fact, it might even be easier this way since the switch is held firmly in place, which makes it easier to pull the button out. You also don't have to go through the hassle of taking the assembly out and putting it back in.

I swapped my 1st gen button with one similar to the one you linked.

The button will come with some tools you can use to pull out the button and push the new one in. I’ll be honest it was way harder to do than expected but it’s possible, nothing needs to be taken apart to do it.

You can get that exact red button for half the price if you get it off Aliexpress (which I would bet is where the retailer you linked get their stock from anyway)

I installed a red STi start button in my car. It was pretty easy to do and was under $100 from the dealer.

See my old post here with the part number:
