Used FA20 short blocks

Howdy,

Is there anyone out there that's selling used FA20 blocks? Unfortunately there's not any cars I can scavenge from in the local junkyards/pick-n-pull so I'm hoping there's a vendor out there selling used blocks online at a decent price I can get locally machined and build myself. I've searched/Googled, but haven't found anything, seems most of the things I've found are folks building engines but you provide your own short block. I want the opposite, a spare short block and do the build myself.

Brand new short block at ~$1600 isn't a bad deal. It'll be a little more expensive but comes with the confidence of working with a new block and crank.

Best bet is to keep browsing CL and facebook marketplace and put the word out in your regional forum. I look for parts all the time even when I don't need them and have come across some really good deals.

Where have you seen them for 1600? MSRP at Toyota is something like 2250 and my hookup quoted me 1840. I’d much rather pay 1600.

I spun a rod bearing and rather than rebuild I plan to by a new short block. So I have my old block that I can sell. Nothing wrong with the block but the crank, one rod and all bearings would need to be replaced.

You're right. Google was returning the Impreza pn for my FA20 pn search. Still not a bad deal imo, especially since he's probably looking for a +2017 block.

I haven’t blown it. I want to do an engine build, and have it ready for when I inevitably do blow it. I harbor no illusions about the longevity of the engine under hard driving on the track. Looking to get the short block first and go from there. Thanks for the good info in here. @ermax I might be down to buy your old block. I will PM you later on, currently on an airplane using in flight WiFi 😂
