Auto Trans Feels like it is slipping...

So at 6800 miles on the odometer...in 3rd and 4th gear (manual mode) in sport or normal the trans seems to slip. The RPMs drop 500RPM or so after shifting. Not everytime but alot of the time. Anyone seen or heard of this issue?

Even money says you just haven't noticed it before and/or it's temp related. It should have been doing that all along as the torque converter locks up. How soon it locks up after a shift varies some based on how you are driving - throttle position and load.

Thought there were a few more threads about it, but this seems to be the only one I can find right now:

I've read that thread today while the site was down using the cache through Google. It's something that doesn't feel right. If the car was dropping 500 RPM I'd have noticed. It's a BIG drop like you know when your car idle drops when it warms up? About 500 RPM and you can hear the tone of the car change. 7 months of driving and it started about a month ago.

Is the car up to temperature? I've been able to notice the torque converter locking/unlocking only when the car was cold.

Well...of course it wont do it TODAY...Talked to a friend at subaru about to torque lockout....and he says it sounds about right. Doesnt seem to do it at WOT (wide open throttle) so I mean maybe its just finicky? Oh well...Ill keep an eye on it for now...

Do you notice it in manual mode? I don't think I've ever noticed the torque converter in any gear but first in manual mode.
