I like the idea but if you're going to pull the back out more, slant the top more and make it a hatch.

Id like a hatch version in the same vein as the tC, and then kill off the tC. A useable back seat, coup looks, hatch practicality useable back seat. I could sacrifice a little performance/handling for slightly more practicality. Actually, just make the tC rear drive, and make it 220 or so hP (or reduce its weight) and that would be awesome.

Whoops! It is bigger than the coupe's rear quarter window. I meant in comparison to the shooting brake in the article. Sorry for the confusion.

My feelings exactly.

Please... No!

Those that refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Toyota needs to go back and look how well the Lexus IS 300 Hatch worked out for them... seems the discerning auto enthusiasts out there didn't buy into "needing a bit more room in the back..."

I'm lucky to still drive a Lexus IS 300 and cringe when I see the elongated version on the road - which thankfully is not too often. Courtesy prevents me from posting a pix... but if you do a Google search on 'Lexus IS 300 Hatchback' you see what I mean. Regardless of whether a car is 2-door or 4-door... taking an good original design and adding sheet metal to create a variant... I dunno. This is right up there with Porsche creating the boat known as the HMS Panamerica.

If they need to make "improvements" then up the ante a bit with performance... Not dilute the essence of what is a great car.

(Edited since I wasn't trying to create an argument - just voicing an opinion (this IS a forum) and certainly not trying to disparage anyone elses opinion... or marginalize whatever needs they might have with their vehicle. Apologies if my original post offended anyone.)

WARNING: Have a barf bag close by...

If they need to make "improvements" then up the ante a bit with performance... Not dilute the essence of what is a great car. If I need to carry more groceries... I'll drive something designed to do so.

"Does this extra sheet metal make my ass look big?"

A: IS 300? Not a sports car; It is a 4-door sedan. Making an ugly car uglier is no basis for a relevant argument here.

B: For many people, the FR-S is the only car we have. Yes, it is my "grocery getter," and I'm damn proud to have the best looking car in the parking lot when I go. We had to make some lifestyle sacrifices to drive this wonderful car every day. If there were a new version that gave us some of that back whilst retaining the overall look and feel of the FR-S, why not?

C: Some people happen to like a big ass...

Do not want.

I'd rather have a focused model, like the S2000, than a market whore like the MINI lineup with a shitload of different models trying to cater to everyone and their dog.

It's great. I encourage Toyota to make as many FR cars as they want, whatever the styling.
