Gave her a scare today. Got pulled over after being caught on the police radar going 40kph (25mph) over in a 60kph (37mph) zone. I was literally a minute away from home, and the only car on the highway at 1:30am. Police car pulled up behind me as I was waiting at a left turn light. He flashed his lights so I put on my hazards and pulled into a brightly lit parking lot. I remember reading somewhere that it's a good idea to turn on the dome light inside the car so the officers can see inside your car and be more at ease.
As he walked up, he left his finger prints right by the gas tank. He asked me if I knew why I got pulled over, and I promptly admitted to speeding. He said "it's a nice car and that's a long straight road so I can understand why you and many others tend to speed here." He asked where I was coming from, how many drinks I've had tonight (trick question), why I was in such a hurry and sniffed near my open window to see if he could smell anything dubious. He went back to his car with my license and registration and came back 5 minutes later letting me know he was going to let me off with just a warning this time, and that the fine would've been $196 and that for going 40kph over, he could have also impounded the car for 7 days. Answering with what they want to hear with little hesitation, turning on my dome lights, keeping my hands on the wheel, my keys on the dash, and a little courtesy may have helped to contribute to a warning instead of a fine. Left the parking lot with an huge smile on my face, an elevated heart rate, the feeling of being $196 "richer" and a more cautious mindset. Last edited by Reign; 06-06-2015 at 07:46 AM. |

I finally removed the stock horns and replaced it with ones from a Subaru Tribeca, far more presence and hopefully respectability(something I find aftermarket ones don't provide) whereas before I've had situations where I was unnoticed.

Every time I see a FR-S without them or with the BRZ garnish, I regret how much they stick out of the car...

I'm stuck on Hawaii for a few more days until I PCS, and there's a huge concentration of both out here but I've never seen any without them. This might get added to my long list of things to do haha |

Expensive lesson learned. Towing fees aren't cheap! Cost $600 to get my car out for a week in the lot...plus $300ish for the ticket. It gave ICBC that one infraction to take away my license for 3 months. I paid another $100ish to attempt to write an official letter to plead my case for them to not take away my license....they said no and took away my license (nice cash grab attempt). I then paid another $100ish to get my license reinstated. Now they reviewed my annual insurance and tacked on another $300ish for a 'driver risk premium'. So all in all...one stupid excessive speeding mistake pretty much cost me over $1300 in fees and fines. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk |
