African spec 86 has new HU

So apparently I think its an African spec'd 2019 86 comes with a brand new android auto/apple carplay OEM head unit.

I read it somewhere and I really couldn't find much information about it on google.

Anyone know anything about it or what kind of HU it is?

I was merely curious, also thinking if Africa can get this new HU how come the rest of the world doesn't?

UK spec 2018 onwards BRZ comes with an Android Auto /Apple car play but not GT86. Not sure about Africa.

Not from experience, but from just reading around the forums, it doesn't matter how many times they (Subaru/Toyota) update the factory radio infotainment system, people will just swap it out for something better anyways. I remember when the bespoke was like a $1,000 option which sucked pretty bad. Luckily, i didn't care for it.

An aftermarket option at the time was cheaper and performed light years better. I still stuck with the grey head unit. it works without hesitation.

My US 18 has AA and CarPlay.

Although there is apparently a recall on the HU, so I have to find out what is up with that.
