Company Holiday Party

Well, it's Saturday night, December 14th and the forum is slow.

I figure a lot of people are busy attending their Christmas/Holiday party.

So, I ask:

What is the most memorial memory that you have involving yourself at (or after) a company holiday party?

We had our car club dinner last night. It was very nice.

Last year at my wife's company holiday party one gal had a dress so tight it split in half. Other than that, nothing exciting.

I won a giant smoked herring at a company Christmas party gift exchange years ago. It was awesome. It came with a nice bottle of Campofiorin, as I recall.

I recall a company Christmas party back in the 70s, at our Western Research Center in California. That was about the time that companies were afraid they could be sued if an employee consumed too much alcohol at a company party and got into an auto accident on their way home.

So, the director of the center, estimated the count of employees that would likely attend and calculated the amount of vodka to buy, so that the average employee wouldn't exceed the legal blood alcohol limit. Then he directed his HR dude to purchase a certain amount of vodka.

Well, now, that facility included about 175 synthesis chemists and several chemistry laboratories. So, the chemists got ahold of the vodka supply and double distilled it so that it became 160 proof and then told the HR monkey that he had only purchased half as much as was called for, so, the HR dude went and bought more.

The spiked punch at the party had quite a "punch" -

Yep, the party was a success -

Ours is the 20th. And as per tradition, a bunch of us go out to the local gentleman's clubs afterwards.

Last year was our last party the company was throwing with new ownership partners deciding to axe it. It was pretty glorious.

Ended up booking off the bottom floor at a restaurant/pub all expenses paid. The old guys tried to drag everyone to the strip club afterwards, and were the only ones refused at the door for being to drunk.

How come this post has only just appeared in my 'new posts' list?? I don't want you to think that I neglected you on the 14th December 2019 because I was having "fun" at a works Xmas party. BTW, I work for a boss who would make for a very good modern day Scrooge!! Employees have to work hard all year and then expected to pay for the Xmas party!! Bah humbug!!

I haven't worked for a place that had a Christmas party in over 30 years. They just simply do not exist for larger companies these days.

Now, 20 years ago when my wife worked in the head office for a small hairdressing chain and I played Santa every year with a couple of hundred scantily clad and drunken' stylists that loved to sit on Santa's lap...

My most memorable holiday party, was Lucas Arts 2012. They rented out the Academy of sciences in SF (very cool aquarium and museum and best in SF). They served drinks and horderves through out the entire aquarium and museum. It was very cool to say the least, it was also extremely swanky with people wearing their fanciest dress. They had like some sort or parade dancers with streamers walking around. Of course it was open bar, and then they had multiple buffets with various types of food and the entire thing was amazing. That xmas party can never be topped...... Then Lucas Arts was shut down due to the Disney acquisition not long after and everyone who worked there was let go... Then I got another job further away and I needed a new car for the commute and that is where I bought myself a brand new 2013 Scion FRS! We have been together ever since.

All kinds of fish, sushi, cooked fish, crab, lobster, you name it. Although not on the menu there was plenty of other non swimming type of "fish", I was there with my wife so that was especially not on the menu and I shouldn't even get caught noticing it existed. However it was not possible for a red blooded man not to notice. It was a lovely holiday party, I think it was kind of George's way of giving a last send off and saying a pre sorry you all will be fired very soon.
