but yeah, this product sucks. clearly it screws with the MAF reading to lean out the stock tune a bit, or maybe throw the timing curve off by making the motor think it's under less load than it actually is. either way, you could accomplish whatever it is that they're trying to do with a tune, and then you'd have the bonus of the MAF sensor actually reading what it's supposed to read.

I feel like the car might try and learn around this too because of the feedback from the o2 sensor in closed loop...

There's more that happens to a car than just dyno numbers, especially nowadays. Logs would be where its at to see what this product does.. SomeoneWhoIsntMe hit the nail on the head, though. Definite MAF trickery

Given that there are already reports of mild detonation on stock cars, I can't imagine leaning out the stock AFR will be a good idea.

Your absolutely right. Crank and wheel horsepower are totally the same thing....

I'm not disputing that wheel horsepower is less than crank horsepower, but you do realise that getting "2-3whp" from a 15 crank horsepower bump would correlate with a drivetrain loss between 80 and 87%, right? That seems slightly high to me.

No, especially when it comes to small power changes that are under the percentage deviation of the dyno. This is why back to back runs are NEVER exactly the same.

Also it doesn't prove much as there are other more nefarious ways to make a dyno look good (I'm not claiming they did this, just saying it's possible)

Crawford sent me the eco block for free to test, I have a 2014 frs, it has the trd intake, trd shift kit, flowmaster catback on it, i too was skeptical about what it did, Crawford told me if it was bad for the engine a check engine light should kick on, and if it did to go ahead and remove the block and send it back.

Anyways i put it on the car, and i have noticed a difference in the butt dyno, mainly from 3k-4k rpm in the dip it has improved throttle response in that range, i have noticed i can run 3rd gear at about 1000 rpm and hit the gas and the throttle response is smoother and no need to downshift. So far havent noticed any improvement to miles per gallon though, seems to have decreased about 1mpg, but its hard to tell the wind has been blowing 60mph everyday out here in the texas panhandle since i put it on.

Thank you for this post and please keep us updated.

It's easy for people to have doubts about this product but if it truly doesn't work with no problems, it would be on everyone's list for an easy mod.

lol @ the check engine light should come on if you do something bad. That is the biggest bunch of misinformation I have heard here yet. Either you know little to nothing about cars and how your ECU works or you're very gullable

no its correct, i had put a spacer on my tundra's MAF sensor and it sent the ecu a code and CEL. so i dont think thats far fetched. Crawford knows more about FA20 engines than any other performance oriented company out there, so I would take their word for it, they never steered anyone wrong before.

Update I am on week 2 with the crawford eco block, still feel some power gain in the mid range, MPG is not seeing much yet, i am averaging about .2mpg above normal currently, but we'll see when I fuel up next tank.
