My unfortunate story of broken windows and opinion on obtaining parts.

Hello guys,

I don't really know where to start about my issue but here goes nothing. About 3 days ago my White out FRS was broken into while I was at the a LA Fitness Gym here in North Hollywood. I arrived at the gym exactly at 10:58 PM. I was there for about a good hour and wasn't till 12:06 when I had just exited the gym. As I walked to my car, I had seen another gym member scooping up stuff off his roof of his car. while I approached my car next to his, he turns around telling me that I should be careful since they broke into his car. They took off with his wallet and some personal belongings. At first when I glanced at my car, it seemed like I wasn't affected since I had nothing in plain sight that anyone could possible steal. But soon enough as I got inches away from my car, I didn't want to believe it but I saw glass on top of my car and around my car as well. I glance over to my passengers side and I find my Windows broken, both the door and quarter glass shattered. I couldn't believe it but they had broken into my car let alone, broken both my windows, damaged the surrounding trim pieces and even dent/scratch the windshield support beam. In desperation I ran inside the gym asking the staff if I can see the footage of their cameras since they have cameras around the building luckily but instead they said they couldn't till tomorrow. Mins passed and I made the police report, making an appointment for them to even go as to getting finger prints off my car to maybe check their database for any possible suspects. Been days now, still no call of anything. The next day I go to the gym during normal business hours to talk to the manager to see the footage but Lo and behold, they tell me their system hasn't worked since. A gut wrenching feeling came over me, full of sadness and anger, I guess now I'm not going to even catch the A*****e who did all this. I asked if there was any chance if they were going to plan on installing the system any time soon, he responded saying not all all. Even though a couple weeks ago, a gym member was stabbed outside the same parking lot, you would think he would come to his senses and do something about this. Now it been a couple days trying to find all the parts to fix my car, but it seems that everything for our cars are so expensive! NOTE I DID NOT GO THROUGH MY INSURANCE SINCE MY DEDUCTIBLE IS AT $2500, THE PARTS I NEED ARE AT AT LEAST $1,000 RANGE. POINTLESS TO GO WITH THEM. The only thing I was able to get was my drivers side window replaced already at about $190.00 however each surrounding trim piece is each $130+ each also the trim piece the hold the small window on our door costs about $350. All these are dealership prices by the way. I also got to see the pricing for my quarter window and that's worth about $240.

-$$$ upper trim on the outside still dont know the part number
-130 trim on the door 68160C
-240 rear quarter window with trim 62710a
-140 paint
-350 trim that holds the small window on our doors 68125
-Time & Work: on me

Making a total of $860+ left to cover expenses for some a-hole's greed.

Had anyone else had this happen and dealt with this type situation. And also please guys and gals, there's enough pricks here on the site as it is, looking for positive feedback out of this whole ordeal. Maybe know where I can get these parts for a cheaper price? Thanks for reading. If there's any grammar errors sorry, wrote out my emotions.

That sucks! You should check your insurance policy though, a lot of policies have 0 or very low deductible for glass replacement independent of your normal deductible. Might help a little bit with your wallet!

I checked already, an unfortunately no coverage was included with my policy for broken windows. Thanks though.

I had mine broken in to but they only broke one window to steal a jacket. And I replaced the window myself.

Looking for a partout is porbably you best bet. Cheapest OEM parts around are subarugenuineparts usually if you haven't checked there

Perhaps this is a lesson in not going cheap on deductible for your insurance? Not being rude about it, but you have to remember that insurance is what is used for things like this.

I feel your pain, about 2 months ago someone busted out my window trying to break into mine. How here's the kicker, I leave my doors unlocked and because I don't leave valuables in my car very often. They made off with a half empty bottle of cologne that I'm not exactly sure where I got from in the first place. Luckily enough my brother works for a glass company and got me a deal on a replacement window on the cheap.

Really sucks to read through this...what I recommend is finding the part numbers and doing a search online. I had to buy a whole new center console. I found some on eBay for close to 100 bucks, dealership wanted about 70 but I managed to find it from an online Subaru parts store like mentioned above for 35 bucks. Tints and alarms can only do so much in cases that we've experienced. Its a never ending cycle though because there is always somebody out there that finds joy in doing things like this or is just that desperate
