Provider and setup details have to be EXACTY right. As mentioned one little thing spelt wrong or number slightly incorrect and won't connect.

Trouble with root
Hello everyone. First of all, I am a complete newby here. In fact, this is the first time I have ever even posted on a forum so if my manners aren't what they should be feel free to correct me.
I have the chinese ca-fi knockoff like the one in 2forme's original post. When I tried to root it I didn't get all the way through and now all I get is a blank, white screen. Here is what I did: I downloaded the RAR file and put it on my FAT32 formatted microSD card. With the SD card inserted into the head unit, I held the menu button and pushed and held the volume button The unit gave me an instant "update successful" message and then rebooted. I went to MCU update and clicked OK and it didn't do anything. Then I discovered that a RAR file is like a ZIP file and must be extracted I downloaded to my PC a program called 7-ZIP and extracted the RAR file to the SD card (I think this is what AndroidHead needs to do to get root to work) With the card again inserted into the head unit I did the hold the menu button and hold the volume button thing and it gave me several update successful messages with a final "end update successful" message. Then I waited... After a while the screen faded slowly to black and I waited some more after 5 minutes or so of black screen I pushed the power button and turned the unit off (I know this was probably my mistake) When I turned the power back on all I got is a blank, white screen. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? I don't think the unit is dead because it does weird things like even when I have it turned off, it will come on and give me the white screen any time I have the car in reverse as if it is trying to show the backup camera. I have tried to update again with the menu and volume buttons but never get anything but the white screen I have tried disconnecting the car's battery and leaving it overnight in the hopes of resetting the unit but get no change. I have tried resetting using the reset button but no change. Is there a way to do a hard-reset on this unit? I appreciate all the posts. I have learned a lot just reading through this thread. Any suggestions y'all can offer would be appreciated. Thanks |

Try downloading the root files again, extract it and place then on the sd card again, then try the root procedure again, may fix it up

With the card in the head unit I pushed and held the menu and volume buttons. As before I got the blank white screen. I continued to hold the 2 buttons down for another minute but no change I released the buttons and left the unit on but so far still just the blank white screen. I don't even get to see the update messages that I saw before so I have no idea if it is even trying to update. I guess I will leave it running for an hour or two just in case. How long should the update take if it is working? |

Assume you are starting with the unit off and then holding menu and pressing power button at the same time to turn it on? Have you extracted the files from the RAR file or just copied the RAR file to the SD card - if you have you need to extract the files from the RAR file and put those on the SD card. If you have then maybe extract the files to your computer first and then copy them to the SD card. Perhaps try another SD card as well. Don't take offense at the above. I am just trying to work out what you may have done wrong. I was new to all this and made some dumb mistales - like starting with the unit on before pressing menu and power and wondering why it wouldn't work, pushing a micro SD card into the slot that wasn;t the SD card one and it disappearing into the unit, not realising you needed a bluetooth dongle... Was all new to me!

If you look quite a few pages back, i had a similar issue with my unit not responding and showing me nothing but a white screen. I was very frustrated with it, trying many different wiring set ups and after a certain time, i just sent the item back to the vendor to get a replacement.
Im fairly sure that the white screen isnt something that can be fixed. I temporarily (not sure how) got mine to come on and function for a few days, but then suddenly the white screen came back. Nothing at all troubleshooting-wise ever worked. Id just warranty claim it and be done. I got my replacement unit and it works absolutely perfect now. Best part is, half the setup is done, so when i got my new unit, it was literally a plug and play Best of luck to ya! |

I have extracted the files to the SD card rather than just copy the RAR file. I inserted the SD card into the correct slot. I know this because it is the same slot I inserted the card into before when I got all the "successful" messages in green text before everything went blank. And I pushed the menu and volume buttons while the unit was off. The unit then came on with the blank screen and I held the buttons for another minute before letting go. I have tried 2 different SD cards and at first I was extracting the files to my PC then copying them to the card. This last time I extracted them directly to the card. I just checked on it and it is still showing the blank screen. |
