Shifter kinda stuck and extr play after clutch install
Hey guys,
i recently did a clutch install(clutch, pressure plate, TOB, verus forged clutch fork and pivot) and the shifter is kinda sloppy, has alot of play. in neutral and in gear. In neutral before the install i would move the shifter left and right and it would snap in center without any slop. Now it slops when i move it left and right. in gear theres about 1-2 inch of play in the higher gears. but most of the gears before the install there not absolutely no play. What would be the cause of this? Im assuming some bushing but i would like to know which one. Diagram of shifter just in case someone can point out what is the cause of this. https://parts.subaru.com/images/part...0_35001284.png i think its the dust boot i torn off the shifter linkage area. https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_20...5016CA020.html its only about $15 so i figure why not pick up. also with my 4th gear. Before the install, car on and without engaging the clutch, trying to shift to 4th gear it would move half inch back towards the gear but not fully go into gear, the shifter would snap right back into the center. now i try doing the same thing, it just stays there now it doesnt snap into the center, i would have to move it myself to the center. UPDATE: i put back the bushing but i screwed up something else. Car wont go into 2nd at all. Last edited by airrick; 04-28-2020 at 02:46 AM. Reason: extra |

It’s not. I had the same thing. Take off everything so you can see the boot. My bet is it’s the 2 pins and that you didn’t bend the thin bent retention bracket correctly so it’s not holding the top part in correctly

Those are about the only things I think should affect lateral return of the shifter. |
