Motul vs Amsoil
At normal operating temps both fluids work great...I can distinguish the difference

When its cold (35-55F...that's cold in Houston) the motul makes for notchy, nearly crunchy shifts. I had to double clutch until the gearbox was warm before normal shifting. Only occurred when shifting below 3.5k when cold.

Its warming up here some but the Amsoil is considerably better. Not perfect but better. Shifts are often buttery smooth after 3 minutes of idle.

You also have the gl-4/5 and whether or not to put gl-5 in the gearbox debate from the motul. I think my Blackstone lab proves motu gear 300 is safe. If you are unsure Amsoil lists their fluid at GL-4 so it should put some minds at ease. Motul may hold up better on the track but I haven't tracked my car. Motul also has that cool gooseneck spout built into the bottle. You have to buy extra stuff to pour the am soil in.


Vs stock...
Its been a while since I used the stock fluid. I recall Motul being better in the cold than stock..and I think am soil is better than motul for cold temp. That's where I stand

My gearbox on stock fluid is crunchy and requires double-clutching downshifts into 2nd when cold. Not pleased to hear Gear 300 didn't fix that.
