I have a Precision V-Band inlet flange at my shop, I can measure it tomorrow. Its certainly not 3". I use the Tial housing myself so I don't know this off hand

The 5858 is a great turbo. Stick with the .82ar in both setups. NON ported shroud. Without cams and a higher rev limit, the 6262 will have a more narrow powerband. But the response from that turbo is amazing for its size. Lag isn't much of an issue, but boost onset will be around 5000rpm. With a 7400rpm rev limit, this leaves you with a narrow powerband.
I'm not a fan of ported shrouds, because they negatively impact the compressor efficiency, and you can still surge with them. I'm also not a fan of too small or too large of exhaust housings. Tried them all. The .82 Vband housing is the best. Delay of boost onset might be only 2-300rpm from the .63 but it pulls much harder up top. Non-ported compressor housing and the .82 AR exhaust is best IMHO, for what it's worth. I love the GTX3576R turbo. Water cooled center sections last longer. No debate. Precision makes great turbos, but their "air cooled" ceramic ball bearings still have pretty high failure rates. The packaging of the Garrett turbos is slightly better, the CHRA is more narrow, but it requires water cooling. I'd be willing to bet the 6262 CEA with 16psi will get you to 500whp. But will it have a more favorable powerband to the 5858? Probably not. |

My buddy made 500whp at 17 psi on a 5858 with p&l turbo kit

Garretts GTW3476 should be considered as well, its new comes in both journal and ball bearing. Cost is much closer to the precision
