I’d love 550whp. I don’t know how you put it to the ground. Need some extensive suspension tuning to lift the front and squat the rear with some super sticky wide radials or slicks to hookup. Got any times or ETs yet?

No unfortunately the tracks traps doesn't work.
It does pretty good on traction with federal 595 rs-rr 265/35r19.

I definitely think on a car like this you can go too big, for my tastes anyway. As your power goes up you have to start making a lot of modifications to the car - suspension, bigger wheels, racing clutch, transmission, exhaust. Eventually, it starts feeling like a different kind of car. I was attracted to the light, tossable fun of this car. I feel like if you’re after a power beast, there are better platforms to start from that will be much more rewarding per dollar spent.

I totally may change my mind when I get there, but I feel like 275whp would really wake this car up without fundamentally changing what it is. I also feel like this is the sweet spot on mods for your money. Past 300 and you start getting diminishing returns, or add too much risk.

I'm at 310whp, with 18" x 9.5" rear and 18" x 8" at the front. The wider tires hold the power well and in a car this light the extra power is incredible.

Whatever the hp you have after your most recent power mod, is the perfect amount.. at least for a week or two.

- 7 psi turbo on E85
- CSG Spec Tein Flex A Coilovers
- 245/40 tires on 17x9 wheels

That would be the base for my ideal setup and then add any supporting upgrades.

I haven’t been in any 86 that was different than mine other than stock cars, so I don’t know what 400whp, 500whp, 600whp, 800whp, 1200whp would feel like, but I know that there are plateaus that are cost prohibitive to me where it becomes more than I want to spend. Over 300tq and the engine needs to be built, and the transmission requires a swap, so forced induction, header, E85 and a clutch is it for me, yet I know there is always an occasion for more power. With that said, depending on your tastes, the extra weight can take away from the light-weight, great-handling experience.

No more than 300whp for me. Edelbrock supercharger should get me close to 280whp on my setup after tune.

The perfect amount of power is the amount you can readily use without reaching your limitation as a human/driver.

The moment you cant exploit all the horses you got, thats the no go zone.
