When I am using launch control, the engine will rev to two different RPM values based on the transmission in neutral vs. in gear (tested with 1st gear).

EDIT: all testing values below are at rest, i.e. 0 mph.

For example, I have tested it with (3) separate LC RPM Delta values.
(Launch Control Disable Speed is set to the default value (6), and Flat-Foot Shift RPM Delta is set to the default value (0) for all tests.

Launch Control RPM Delta value set at 3600 (7600-3600=4000 RPM)
- clutch off, neutral: RPM=3600
- clutch on, neutral: RPM=3600
- clutch on, 1st gear: RPM=4000

Launch Control RPM Delta value changed from 3600 to 3100 (7600-3100=4500 RPM)
- clutch off, neutral: RPM=4100
- clutch on, neutral: RPM=4100
- clutch on, 1st gear: RPM=4500

Launch Control RPM Delta value changed from 3100 to 2600 (7600-2600=5000 RPM)
- clutch off, neutral: RPM=4600
- clutch on, neutral: RPM=4600
- clutch on, 1st gear: RPM=5000

It seems that no matter the setpoint, with the transmission in neutral the RPM value = LC delta - 400 RPM. Has anyone else noticed this, and/or is it an expected behavior? It doesn't do any harm, I'm mostly just curious why it happens more than anything.

I had noticed this a while back, but wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong or was using an older version or something. I only noticed, since I wasn't able to rev over 4k in neutral, while sitting still-clutch in/out didnt matter nor did being in 1st/neutral.

Bump.

With the new V2 OTS tunes do we have to wait for the new XML files for the V2 OTS tunes to get LC/FFS?

Because I understand that i'd have to use a V1.x tune with the XML V1.x files to get LC/FFS, but I just don't want to considering the V2 is the most updated.

Do the same concept apply to the v2.067?
I want launch control at 3k. So 7600-4600=3000, I did that but when I put the tune on my car. It started then died...

yes same patch

make sure your using the oft V2x definitions that come with V2 tune pack and not the V1.5x definitions.

Launch Control

Hey guys I have my car on the oft stage 2 uel tune and I'm trying to find the launch control setting. Now I've heard all you have to do is plug the oft in, put it in first and gas it but when I do that the launch control doesn't engage. What am I doing wrong?

Mine works fine, there's no setting, it's just there preset at like 5.7k. Clutch in, hold, first gear, gas and wamwamwam, lol. To change it you go into RomRaider and adjust I believe.

Isn't it just:
  • Open RomRaider
  • Open a ROM file to edit that works on the calid of your car
  • Go to the Alpha BRZ LC/FFS settings
  • Edit Launch Control Delta RPM
  • Change value to xxxx (where 7600 - xxxx = your desired LC RPM)
  • Save
  • Copy to OFT
  • Plug into car and flash like any other ROM
