Yesterday I drove through a parking garage in the middle of the day with my lights set to auto. So in the dark garage they turned on, and when I exited it to park outside in the bright sunlight it took forever for the lights to automatically turn off, such that backing into a space was a pain in the ass because bright sunlight + head unit set to dim when lights are on + back of the space in shadow.

But I remember when I rented 86's in Japan and would drive through tunnels on the expressway the lights would turn off nearly immediately upon exiting into sunlight.

Do different countries spec their light sensitivities differently for auto lights?

I think this is an adjustable setting.

Got the lugs changed out on truck#1. A couple were real tough. I'd like to slap the guy who put my tires on last time. Only lost one tool.

Looks like you took that lug nut off with a pipe wrench -

If I could get a pipe wrench in there, that would have been easier.

I had to hammer a nut extractor on a couple of the real mangled lugs.

Mine "stick" once in a while too. I just click them off and back to auto.

Oh yes, those look to be much more sophisticated than the old chisel and hammer method -

Every year or so someone comes into the wife's work with a; "I can't drive my car because the rear view camera stopped working". Yes, some people think it should be on all the time to replace the rear view mirrors. The funniest one though was an elder woman who kindly asked my wife how she was to clean the screen in the dash. She said she had used everything from plain water to special computer screen wipes but still she couldn't see to back up. My wife said; "Spit on a tissue." The woman looked perplexed so the wife said; "Like this." She walk out to the woman's car, spit onto a Kleenex and wiped off the camera lens. Then told the woman to see if the screen was clear now. The woman got into her car, started it and put it into reverse and said; "Yes, it is. She then asked; "What was that you did?" The wife explained to her about the camera lens.

We need to get maybe a real-life squad made up of Mitch Rapp, Scott Harvath, Jack Reacher types to take care of this. Hell, I'd volunteer but I would just be in the way....

This speaks more to how uncultured I am than anything else, but I felt a lot better after seeing Jack Reacher, Googling the others, and realizing all were fictional. Disclaimer: I'm also on pain meds, so I have more than one excuse.

As for whether or not they paid, I'm not so sure yet. It's possible, but everyone is referencing a Bloomberg article, which references an anonymous source. While Reuters has said that they didn't pay. I personally don't put much confidence in what Bloomberg publishes after the whole China implanted chips in system boards nonsense of 2018.

The scary part is they are obviously only using the cameras.
