Yesterday I took the FRS out for the best drive since I moved down to socal. Man there are some excellent roads. My car hasn't been washed in months yet when I stopped to snap a picture of the car and surroundings it looks spotless.

I reckon you missed THIS experience as a teenager -

Nice picture!

Yep, California - just drag out the California Duster - and you got a clean car -

Short story. A few years back, I was visiting my parents, during the summer, in Hollister, California. My younger brother that lived about 2 miles away, called and said he wanted to bring over his newly painted 1967 Corvette Stingray over to show me.

He pulled up in the driveway and got out, grabbed his California Duster and dusted it off. I just SMH and commented, that car sure must have gotten dirty in those 2 miles.

California -

Uninstalled the Tomei Equal Length, and installed the Ace Header CS400 header and overpipe combo. This is a great upgrade, completely removed the torque dip that was still there with the Tomeis. Car pulls strong all the way through the power band and sounds incredible at high rpms.

California can be dusty :p

Things keep so clean here the scale from dirty and clean is a small bit of dust or rare water spots from rain, that's dirty. Plus in this bright Ca sun all imperfections show up clear as day. I thought people in NorCal kept their cars clean but down here in SoCal its another level. I dig it.

Listen up, I have a hint for you, since you have moved your pretty car down to southern California. When you park, especially at night, be careful NOT park close to shrubbery that might get sprinkle irrigated.

Why not? Because much of the "water" they use down there for irrigation, comes from deep wells and contains about 99% of hard water deposits, that will only come off of your car with a sander -

I learned THAT the hard way with my copper red miata. -

Same thing happened to me. It was only a day later since they were sent the auto kit and not the M/T kit. Got a Camry hybrid with 84 miles on it. They got it back with 102...it was that much fun, lol.

Had new plugs put in. Only 20k miles on it, so didn't worry about much else. I still have a bumper to bumper warranty for 75 more days for any other issues.

I started today by removing and baking my driver's side headlight in the oven so I could open it up to repair the stripped vertical headlight adjuster.

Once that was done I began installing my lightly used shocks/struts, springs, top hats, camber bolts, and rear LCA's that I bought from the classifieds. The driver's side sway bar link was impossible to remove. No amount of penetrating oil, fire, or extreme cursing could get it loose after the nut reached the rustiest part of the threads. Usually I'm a pro at getting seized/rusted bolts out (had LOTS of practice on my '88 944), but this is on a totally different level...

Old struts finally out:

New struts and camber bolts in:

Fighting with the driver's side front sway bar link for 2 hours really pissed me off, so I'm saving the rear shocks and LCA's for tomorrow when I'm not so frustrated:
