If You Leased...
If you leased your FR-S like I did, what are your current thoughts about your options at the end of the lease? Looking at another car in 2015? Going to buy or extend the lease?
I've had my car for about 13 months now, so a little over a third through the 36-month lease. I've had to have some body work done and I've invested a decent bit of money in mods. Still have all of my stock parts, so I can make the conversion to stock at any time. I love the car but it's my first new car, I'll be 22 at the end of the lease, and my salesman specifically said when I bought it that if you have any bodywork done, his suggestion is to turn it in at the end of the lease. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, but time flies so it's something to think about. Where are you guys at in the thought process?

You still have almost two years to go. My advice would be to see what other cars are on the market and go from there. You can always keep your current car if there is nothing better out there and the numbers make sense to buy it.

I'm 'leasing' but have 0 intentions of not buying it. I'll be in the market for a new daily in about 3 years, and the frs will make its way to my garage and it'll be my weekend warrior. I'll end up in something like an sti or evo, primarily for awd. Hell, the sti will be runnin a turboed fa20 at that point, so I know where my heart will try to lead me.
The reason I leased is because I'm in law school and only make about 25k a year right now. I put down 6k to keep my payments at 172 a month for 15k a year (cheaper to get 15k and buyout then 12k and buyout). Anyways I get attached to things, which is why it would be hard to part ways with her until I have built the motor and released every last ounce of power the car has to offer |

I haven't decided. I have had it a few months and have swapped wheels and added coils. It depends how my career is doing and if I have a second paid off car like another 240sx

I considered lease, but purchased instead cause I didn't want to be stuck with the car for 3 years if I didn't like it. Plus my intention was to keep it anyways and it's cheaper in the long run to purchase

Thats odd^.. it aint a Ferrari :P
I leased as well, i don't plan on having the same car for that long, don't get me wrong i love the car, but I'm too young to be garaging cars just yet, and i don't really have the option of two cars either, so I'm sure this will either go or extend the lease, but most likely a new toyota will take the replacement! maybe the 2015 FR-S? or supra if ever...? anyhow, depends on the market! |

By 2015, there will be a new wrx and sti, possibly a new evo, new m3, possibly a brz sti erc etc.
Lots of new models coming ouy over the next few years. Enjoy your car you have now, just keep your options open. You might love the car now but 6 months before the end of your lease, a new car comes along and you're in love with it and trade the frs in. Lots can change in 2 years.

I wouldnt spend too much more in mods. You should just enjoy the car while you have it. If there something else that appeals to you, move into it. If not, the buy out option will be there.

I leased mine for about 7 months then went in to buy it and ended up buying a new 10 series instead. Just remember, leasing is renting. The money you pay monthly goes nowhere, if you plan on owning it in the long run then I'd convert the lease sooner than later.

I think this car in particular is terrible to lease. I love driving my car for no reason with no where to go, i just drive and find fun roads, km rack up pretty fast and on a lease thats not a good thing. Plus you cant mod as much, so you have a blank canvas and you cant draw/paint or mold what you want. For regular dd or work vehicle lease is good in some circumstances but in general financing is better. For an enthusist lease is not so great.

I leased my 2nd FRS (my daily driver), mostly to keep payments down. You're always offered to buy the car at the end of the lease with the contracted residual. But in all honesty, I'm too much of a car enthusiast not to have something new. When my lease is up, there will be better cars to "graduate" to. The two cars I will be looking for in 2016:
- Mustang IRS - New STI w/ FA25 turbo (lol) - Land Rover Evoque The FRS/BRZ is a great platform, but when I'm 26, I'll probably need a bigger backseat just in case I have an "accident" lol.
