Also, in an unrelated note, I guess this rules out any fog lights/auxiliary lighting on the front bumper? Do those ducts actually DO anything, or just take up space that we could use for brake/oil cooling, fog lamps, etc? |

To me, the front-end is fantastically ugly. Like, really bad. And i don't really see any big change in the rear bumper. I like the new rear tails. The wheels are just as ghastly as before, though. I still want an early FR-S; hopefully this new one will help speed up the old one's depreciation.

Also that Picture for the interior steering wheel might not be for us in the USA. Also I might me but I don't mind the tear duct are gone. From press release, "The interior also features the 86 logo on the new "Grandlux" material used on the instrument panel surround. The same material adds a new, soft feel to the door trim. Drivers also will enjoy new seating material with silver stitching and a sporty steering wheel with integrated audio controls and an 86 logo on the center hub." We're suppose to get an 86 LOGO one like they usually do in Japan, the Toyota Logo isn't for every country, also that might not even be the steering wheel for it,so wait for more info before passing Judgement.

I agree, the steering wheel looks ugly. I know a lot of reviews wanted steering wheel controls for radio as many other sub-$30k cars have them.

Glad to have the original
I think the new gearing will allow 2nd gear to hit 60 mph for bragging rights of a faster 0 to 60 time. When the car was released, some wouldn't buy it for those numbers. I could be wrong but a slight gear ratio change could send the car into a number that is quite a few tenths lower than now.
I think the original '13 FRS has the most oversteer built into it. For me, that is a really good thing, and the 1st thing I noticed about the car. I bet the new Toyota model will have such neutral handling that oversteer is taken out of the equation. Some of us will like that and others will not. I'm so happy for my '13 having exactly the tools to drive how I like to. I'm sure the car won't be ruined by Toyota, but the price (I think) will go up a few thousand. And if it doesn't, the dealer will pad the car with extras or that silly thing where the car is just too popular to sell at the list price. Sheet, I paid $5k over to be the 1st on the block for my Red Manual FRS. Didn't see another one for 6 months though on the road. This is good news for all us owners. The car hasn't really changed that much and it will keep the value of us Scion owners well into the mix of resale value. Dealer offered me $17,500 and they sell them now used for $21,000 or more. I expect that to continue for quite a few years at that price for one in pristine condition. This car is still the most fun with actual utility for 2 people that I know of. Peace |

The '86' logo on the side reminds me a lot of the 'Z' logo on the 350z and 370z and the grill looks a lot like the one on the new corolla and camry. I'm glad I have my '13 FRS to look at everyday.

I think GRM performance parts will be put out there. They have great upgrades for the 86 and would be great.

It looks so similar to the existing car that, to me, these changes make zero difference. I predict a price increase which is unappealing to an already overpriced car but perhaps I will be wrong.
I'm really looking forward to a future side by side comparison particularly to see what the increased horsepower/torque and gearing ratios bring to the table. |
