Security system: BRZ vs. FR-S

In doing a comparison of the US and CDN BRZ levels I noticed that all Canadian BRZs get an anti-theft security system and immobilizer; the FR-S only gets an immobilizer.

I'm planning to add an aftermarket alarm system .. I've had my share of stolen vehicles and I don't want another incident. Possibly viper or compustar (any suggestions?) from a local shop autolinks/audio heaven.

Main concern is adding alarm system going to void my warranty..it's my first brand new car so just want protect this beauty of a car they call frs

They hve to prove the alarm caused a problem.

But IMO you want a paging alarm (2 way) that has good transmission range.

I use a Viper 5901 installed by myself in my ITR. Also installed are fake sirens, hidden real sirens, a fake brain (old viper that was in the car when I bought it), fake hood pin that's easy to see, real one that's hard to see, etc.

Most alarm installs are a joke, do it yourself or pay someone who will really take there time to do it right.

I didn't realize car theft was so big in southern Ontario. I've heard about thieves stealing old gm/ford/chrysler vehicles in Brantford being a problem but not really anywhere else.

I'd be more concerned about bastards smashing your windows to steal head unit than anything.

On a side note, anyone getting a dash cam? For a hundred bucks, a dash cam could save you a shit ton of money if someone tries to screw you over in an accident.

Crazy. I would never have thought of anything like this. I guess I'm not the entitled sort that feels they should scam others for their own gain though.

When I first read about getting a dash cam my thoughts were "seriously?" but after that video.. I'd actually consider it.

Any recommendations? I was thinking about getting a dash
Cam but not sure which brand or type. Anything you'll suggest?
