Rear Axle is stuck in diff

Hey guys,
I’m trying to remove the diff so I can swap it for an OS Giken but I can’t get my axle to pop out from the diff. The diff is still installed so that I can use a pry bar with leverage and I know that I’m supposed to pop it out like half an inch or so and then actually remove them once I drop the diff, but the axles will not budge one bit from the diff. I have no idea what to do. I’ve tried even using a metal mallet to bang on the pry bar and it still will not budge.
What am I doing wrong??? Any tips/ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Dumb question, but did you take the other end of the axle out of the hub first? There isn't enough room to get the axle out with both ends still contained.

Get a bigger hammer...seriously. Make sure you are hitting it in the right place (see pic). Watch this video around the 5:30 mark. He's using a screwdriver but I used a piece of steel that had a bit more substance to it and a 3 pound sledge. Don't try to "pry" it out, you have to "drive" it out just like he's hitting the screwdriver in the video. It will pop out.

I’m not sure what you mean? I haven’t been able to get either side out.

So for anyone who was stuck like I was: i was using a pry bar to get it out and had no luck. I finally decided to go down to Harbor Freight and buy the correct tool, an axle remover, for $10. Its like a metal fork with two prongs. Two hits with the 5lb hammer and it came out super easy.
DO NOT SPEND THREE HOURS TRYING TO SOLVE THIS LIKE I DID, JUST GO BUY THE TOOL. I will link a listing for a similar tool below but the one I got was just a random $10 one.

Hope this helps!

Glad you got it out. Back in my Honda days I used a slide hammer that worked great.

Axles don’t like to pop out hitting or prying on one side. They will, but much easier using equal amounts of force on both sides. When you hit or pry on one side, you’re making it “tighter” on the opposite side.
