When I went from the stock 4.1 to 4.88 I was expecting a larger difference. I personally am very happy I didn't go lower.

In the end, the most important part is the purpose of the swap. If it's for track use, than you should gauge it based on the gears/speeds you want in corners/straights. Everyone will have a different sweet spot

I have a 4.88 on my 2015 brz summer street car. Overall I'm pretty happy with it as it feels like a new car. Definitely the best bang for the buck to get some low end pep on NA, but the only tradeoff is the high pitched gear whine at about 75mph and beyond.

It did quiet down a tad after a thousand miles and a fluid change. In terms of cruising RPM and fuel mileage, it's not much different from stock and I adapted pretty quickly. Lane changes are effortless now.

Glad to read that. 75mph is way over speed limit where I drive the FRS. Did you driven the car in winding roads? I want to know how it behave in those particularly roads

There's a bit of wheel spin if your gear is too low, which I corrected a bit by softening up the rear on my coilovers.
