You may surpass the amount of time I had a Crosstrek loaner, 110 days (3 months, 20 days). So long, I had to schedule an oil change for the loaner, and people were asking if I traded the BRZ for it...sometimes I questioned that myself LOL

I think Toyota knows that already so I am not sure what "mistake" they will make them aware of.
Transport Canada will only act on safety items. There is nothing they can or will do to Toyota that will help the owners of the failed vehicles in any way.

No, I don't think that's the case. Firstly, they stiffed me out of several grand through no fault of my own. Lucky that I don't live paycheque to paycheque, or I'd be ruined.

Toyota: "Hey, critical safety recall!"
Me: "Sure thing, here's my car"
... months later ...
Toyota: "Here's your final multi-thousand-dollar bill! And we won't give you any more compensation!"

Second, it's clear that Toyota still haven't learned anything. I talked to a dealer rep and he said that Toyota is still pushing to do this recall. How many more people will have a ruined engine as a result? How many of those will not be covered for the replacement/repair?

Thank you for the CAMVAP referral, but even IF they take on the dispute, it will be a final resolution, so all other options need to be probed.

There is no CT option to recoup losses. That just isn't what they are for. If there is a safety issue they will address it but as far as DEALERS (not Toyota) screwing up cars they have zero say.
How is it clear they haven't learned anything? They changed the instructions to try to get the dealer techs to do it right. If the techs don't than that is on the dealer not the company.
It really does suck that some individuals had bad work done and the dealers should take reasonability for them but there is no government agency that is going to step in on a mass scale and force any form of compensation or action.

I guess I'll sit down and shut up like a good Canadian consumer. Yeah, that's the ticket. It's how problems are solved.

Did I say that? You are looking for results that just are not to be found from that agency. Sucks but welcome to the real world.
Bet you haven't even contacted the one group that may actually be able to help you yet though.

Send correspondence in writing if they won't return calls. Emails, certified letters, etc. - don't be ignored!

Hey everyone, first post here from Thailand!

Vehicle Mileage: 97,683km
Vehicle Make: Toyota GT-86 White Auto (Aero Package)
Mileage After Recall Performed: 80km
Symptom(s): Overheating, engine cracking noise, stall
Failure: Not sure yet, the only thing they told me was leaking water......lol
State: Still functioning, not as before
Is Dealership Offering Repair: So far all repairs and towing expenses covered by the dealer.

The recall in Thailand started late, and i just got the call a couple of weeks ago. After reading all the threads, i was sure that the delay was due to them figuring things out first.

My car was always serviced in time, and no previous issues or overheating in the past 5 1/2 years of daily use (Its my daily drive).

2 days after recall my engine overheated, but luckily i was close to home already. The next day i made my way to Toyota and the engine overheated again, there were cracking noises coming from the engine and it eventually stalled on the highway. Also gradual loss of power and most other systems in the car. No warning lights, no other indicators of any problems. Car was towed to Toyota Dealer and is still there now. They checked it for 2 hours and said we found a problem, water leakage (This is Thailand....... might be a language barrier issue). Luckily the engine did start up again but the noise is significantly louder so i refused to accept it back. They advised that Toyota will send a specialist in the next 2 days to check the car out.

I may not have a blown engine yet but i feel like i was definitely very close to having one. I think the issues were definitely related to improper servicing of the car during the recall, most likely with the oil or coolant. It seems like no matter where in the world, Toyota is incapable of working on this engine. Waiting for a full checkup by a Toyota specialist before i will accept the car back, I only just picked up the car 2 days ago from the recall.

I have posted on another thread, so I thought it best to share some experiences and info here. My FRS has been in the shop for 9 weeks since the post recall fix, the engine seized on the 401 in Toronto. The dealership agreed to replace the bearings, I asked Toyota for a short block and they refused. Since then I have contacted a number of places, Transport Canada because this is a safety issue and they want to hear about this. The APA (Automobile Protection Assoc.), they do know about this and are watching closely. The BBB ( Better Business Bureau) this got a real rise out of Toyota they responded 3 times to my letter. Toyota Canada, I sent a letter to the President, although the first one somehow didn't make it. The President is several paid grades above the others this is important, so insiders have told me. Toyota is nervous so they need to be pushed, I have also contacted several media outlets and will continue to push. This week the dealership called me to say they completed the bearings and after a test drive they consider the car "not safe to drive" it is going to blow up again. Apparently it needs a new short block.......What a shock ! so the work begins again. If I don't hear something positive from Toyota Canada within a week I will secure a lawyer and I will begin action against them. I am like everyone else furious, they wrecked my car but they will only continue responding if conversation is civil (very difficult). I am not done and I urge anyone else in the same situation to not give up. I will update as soon as I have news. Thanks
