The risk for accidents like this will always exist - with cars that hit these speeds. It goes with the territory and if we like racing - we have to accept it.

If not, then we have to stop the racing. You think you can take the risk away with rule changes? Give me a break.

Hoping Jules pulls thru.

It's just common sense that with a 5 or 6 ton piece of equipment removing another wrecked car, that it needs to be off track and behind the barriers before turning that area back to green (even if it wasn't raining) in my opinion.
This has been discussed at length by everyone. The green flag is for the section AFTER the crash site, it's standard procedure, it's nothing out of the ordinary and it wasn't the problem with the accident unfortunately. The problem is that the respect for the yellow flag has rapidly decreased in the last few years. Jules was going way too fast under double yellow flags, and the FIA needs to really clamp down on this.

It's funny that this years title fight is as close as it gets yet I'm more excited for 2015 then anything else. If 2015 sees another Mercedes domination I might just stop watching.

I personally root for a good ol' Alonso-Hamilton rematch at McLaren

Isn't he being 'exposed' this year?

I mean, I'm a fan, I think he's the real deal but Ricciardo has handed him notice.

I am surprised Vettel is exiting RB after this season, I figured he'd give it another year, we'll see how it shakes out, all we know is Vettel is looking and the mystery revolves around Alonso at this point.

Exposed AGAIN perhaps :P? Vettel's a good driver, when he has a car to his liking. As soon as the car is out of that window, he struggles. This year the car doesn't have the stable rear end that he likes, and he struggles to live with it. Same thing happened in previous years with Webber, once they got the exhaust-blown diffuser, he started to wipe the floor with Webber. Before that, Webber was matching him.

If Claire Williams keeps this up it might be time for Sir Frank to ship her to the sports car side. Call me a purist, but F1 must always remain an open cockpit series.

Ferrari restructuring continues:

Changes at Red Bull. Newey going part-time, Rocky promoted and a new chief engineer:

I doubt that Vettel will turn down his *rumored* 50 million/year @ Ferrari deal. (that's ~$80million USD)

As for closed cockpit idea... If they close the cockpit then why the hell am I still watching F1? Basically at this point if the WEC series would mix in 90 minute races into their schedules, I'd essentially be done with F1.

But until then, I do love me some F1... Even with "dildo-based-aero" and engines that sounds like duck farts.

Watched qualifying this morning and F1's 'Considerations' after the crash are:

1. Have a set speed limit in yellow flag areas.
2. A virtual safety car. What the heck is that?
3. Install skirting on cranes and removal equipment.

Although these are 'considerations', the third one is just plain stupid. If you have an area that has a huge piece of equipment removing a car, that area should just stay yellow until the piece of equipment is safely behind the barriers. I'd say safety is still not job one for Bernie.........sad. If the crane that Bianchi hit had skirting, it probably would have bent the skirting under the crane and then who knows what that might have done.

GP2 race on right now and it's been pretty entertaining.

Let's use the Tony Stewart/Kevin Ward Jr. incident for this. Yes, rule changes can take away risks. All of them, probably not, but it is a step towards driver safety, which should be foremost in any racing.

There were some clarifications today in quali about the accident. Unlike what was stated after the race the med-evac chopper was present during the race, however bad weather prevented it from taking off.
