I'd go for the cheapest one for the sake of paying it off asap. The differences don't add up to the thousands of dollars in difference.

honestly if you arent having any mechanical issues/chirping/etc with your current i'd just buy it off.
...then start modifying it.

$16k for a 23k mile Limited is a real good price. Why would you buy a newer one instead of financing the 2013 purchase? Unless you beat on your lease car or had issues. I don't see a reason to spend $10k more for a new one.

wow. thanks for all the responses. think I'm more torn between keeping it or getting a 2016. its got some damage, not anything major. i do feel i beat on it a little too much ... also it'll be nice to get a nice refreshed, new radio, backup cam, new color, new smell, virgin clutch, etc. just had it inspected for the lease return ($1045. with $1000. allowed). leaning towards a black 2016, i think. I'll flip a coin .. appreciate the replies, helped a lot.

couple questions though ...

is the white one .... girly ? (i mean, it looks cool, but ...)
does the 2016 radio work better than the older one ? or should i simply replace it with a good aftermarket?
and whats a good aftermarket unit?
also bought weathertech mats for my 2013, i take it they'll still fit in the 2015+ ?

love this car. and forum. thanks again.

To make a long story short I sell BRZ's. In the past several months all of our white BRZ's were purchased by males! It's a very nice color for the car. I would've bought a White BRZ had it not been for the HyperBlue BRZ.

I personally think the 2016 Headunit is far easier to USE than the 2015 one. The 2016 unit has clear, functioning buttons to control audio and features.

Also, the WeatherTech mats will fit in a 2015+ because they did not change the floor.

I'm going to have to call bullshit on this. Unless something was mechanically wrong with your '15, there are no differences in the steering components between the two cars. In fact, as far as I know, there are no mechanical differences at all. Just backup cameras, head units, and other cosmetic differences.

Do you have any sources to back up your claims?

Was your lease 24 or 36 months? 10,12 or 15,000 miles per year? 23K is not a lot of miles. Your car maybe worth more than the residual depending on the lease length and mileage allowed.

+1 to this. Prior to 2015 there were minor differences to the suspension from the FRS and BRZ. 2015+ have the same suspension. The cars are more identical now then they used to be. It must be the blue playing tricks with you

Normally I'm a buy it new over used kind of guy. However everything about the car is a known quantity at this point. Buy out the lease and have fun with YOUR car.

Well, the spring rates are still different between the FRS and the BRZ.

Me driving it for the last 10k miles, boosted and unboosted.

and then 500 miles on the new car. Could tell instantly there was a difference. Plus, the BRZ driver seat sits higher off the ground, even with the height adjustment all the way low.
