Not really, this car is pretty much bang-on the average of all cars for depreciation if not a little better, not bad for a relatively low production sports car. Yeah if you expected Civic/Camry/Tacoma depreciation you'd be pretty disappointed, if you expected sports car depreciation you'd be at least adequately satisfied or pleasantly surprised. We're over 3 years in and the nice ones are still asking $18k+ depending on region, compared to this chart below. http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/ho...fographic.html |

What reason did the owner give for selling?
Seems like a very low price... If possible I'd probably have a mechanic you trust take a second look at the car. |

I recall seeing 2 for $16,000 - $16,500 east coast about a year ago, which in the NJ - PA area is the lowest I think I've seen them...
One was being sold by a dealer and included a $2,000 loyalty discount in SUPER SMALL text on the advertisement, the other I never looked into... I'm curious to see what the Op. finds out, for his sake I hope the car is legit and he can snag the deal. |

Don't worry about it; look at the prices on Autotrader and you'll probably see there's nothing to worry about. People BS about what they paid on the internet constantly and these 'too good to be true' deals are, well, just that. Yeah, cars depreciate but it doesn't appear that these cars are any worse than others.

but that's exactly the problem with sports cars in the long term for companies though. My friends mom is a manager at a Nissan Dealership, and his father is a manager at a Major Dodge, Chrysler Jeep Fiat dealer in the area and works for MOPAR there. My friend worked there over the summers and such when we were leaving high school and specifically the online sales stuff. They hated cars like the GT-R, 370z, Challenger, viper, abarth, and SRT vehicles sales wise because they sat on the lot for around 5-8 months and they would get calls and messages online for them and then no one would show up with money. Cars like the Durango, Grand Caravan, dart, versa, Rogue and pathfinder they would get at least 3-4 of sold each day alone online by legitimate people further away. The market for these cars is exactly as described it's a niche only car people or people that like the look of the car and don't need anything "practical" will buy it.
