While you shouldn't allow the post of some schmuck on a forum to influence what you name you're child, I will say that Rin has always been one of my favorite names for a girl. (wrote this before realizing that others commented on the name due to anime shows I haven't seen)

Haha def won’t choose baby name by hooligans... BUT let’s face it, names are influenced by person who had that name. Example, name Fiona I like, but my wife doesn’t like it cuz name Fiona reminds her of movie Shrek. Another one is Aurora. It reminds her of shooting happened (in CO?) Both are Princess names & meanings are very wonderful... but in the end, experiences of that name influenced the person good way or bad way. So I’ll gladly take hooligans opinions on those name plus other names.

Rin is Japanese unisex name & I was thinking of using that name as one of candidates for the middle name. Middle gonna be hard. I want be able to read it both Japanese AND Chinese. Prefer to have it in 1 writing like me & my wife. Good news is, 9 out 10 Japanese writing can be read in Chinese.

To add, funny part is, 2 of the name my wife picked origin are from flowers (Lily & Rin), even though she doesn’t like/care for flowers. Lol

From your list, I would choose Sonia or Vanessa, both of which I happen to think go well with Rin as the middle name.

As I was reading this, I kept confusing Rin with Rey (Star Wars), and was like "do you really want to do that".

I'm with your wife on Fiona, Shrek immediately popped into my head.
Mia, immediately puts Abba singing Mamma Mia in my head.
Elise is too car related.
I would eliminate Sydney because I'm not crazy about unisex names.

Some of my personal rejected names my wife wouldn't use for my sons:

Sterling Steele
Steele Rod
Manuel Overdrive

Feel free to save those if your next child is a boy.

Haha When I picked Elise, I wasn’t really thinking of car. If I wanted car related name, I would choose Subaru, Silvia or Mercedes. Which all was rejected by the queen lol ...well Subaru was allowed in the middle name.

Overdrive huh? Interesting

Pretty solid list, I like Rin. I think soundman and Dadhawk are right though. Maybe just keep them in mind until you see her.

I'm terrible at naming things. My 4Runner is dubbed "Peter Nincompoop."

Change that to months for information security. For anyone hiring in this field, ignoring skill and talent due to lack of education is a sure way to pay more for people who may not be as technically qualified to do the work.
Same here. Most of the people I worked would have a background in Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology etc. and at some point of their career changed to work in the IT world. I don't believe that all these people were not intelligent and they had also a high-level education. Nevertheless, they missed a formal education and a knowledge of basic principles. In many cases this lack of knowledge was evident.

Think what would happen if you would go for a surgery and the person who would do it wasn't a doctor, but let's say a person with a biology background or a chemistry background. Would you accept to make the surgery no matter how intelligent he was? Things in IT were somehow screwed up in the past. Maybe there were too many positions and not enough people, but at some point of time this has to be changed. Especially in highly critical applications ...

Just remember, with names, it will be shortened to one syllable. Elise will become El, Sydney will become Syd, Vanessa will become Van or just V, Morgan will become Morg, etc..

Well, I admit Overdrive was a bit much.

I do like both Silvia and Mercedes, although I would be afraid Mercedes would get shortened to Merc.

As an aside, I don't have a middle name, neither did my Father nor my paternal Grandfather (all of us were first born sons). I broke the chain as all my sons have middle names.

I guess I'm lucky, I hear Fiona and I think Shameless. Although, that might not be any better for inspiring an offspring's name.

IDK, some names are impossible to shorten. Example, Jet (my nephew), Yuna (my dog) & so on.

I know someone name is Mercedes, but go as Cedes instead of Merc.

I myself don’t have a middle name as well. In Japan, middle name is rare. Maybe that’s why a lot of Asian women who gets married put their maiden name in middle name. My wife had a different middle name, but when we got married, she changed the middle name as a maiden name (same w my mom, sis-in-law & mother-in-law). This one of the reason, I’m lil hesitant on giving middle name for my daughter. When/If she get married & change last name, she’ll change middle name to maiden name. IMO I rather have her keep the middle name than keeping last name... but I guess it’s her choice.

Can't say I've ever known a Vanessa that gets shortened to Van, but I could see where that would happen.

Just don't do two middle names.

Not that I dislike mine or wish my parents hadn't done it. But two names makes legal forms and other stuff so difficult to fill out...

Like most of my important registrations for credit card, flight info, etc. only has my first middle name, or I have to put the two initials, but then those don't match my passport, etc.
