Ptuning

Get the Exedy stage 1 clutch
Get the ECUtek dongle + Cable, get the ECUtek license, get the ECUtek RaceRom patch
Get tuned, get fast.
Thank you so much for your involvement in this thread. Wont i need new injectors/pump?

Adding on to this, I would recommend adding some gauges at least to monitor.

Oil cooler is highly recommended. Was the last thing I did but it actually help me drop 40F.

Other stuff: Oil catch cans/AO Separator, Hood Vents. Might as well upgrade clutch stuff while you're down in there, fork, TOB, flywheel.

The only reason I didn't mention oil cooler or any other supporting mods is that he needs to work with whomever tunes that car to datalog to find the deficiencies and address them. I agree that he'll probably want an oil cooler.

Fuel pump certainly not. Injectors maybe. Again, I would work with your tuner to see what you should/shouldn't do for supporting mods beyond what I posted They'll be able to tell you if you need additional fuel, or cooling, or new spark plugs, stuff like that.
I would listen to Yamaha and get the upgraded clutch fork and pivot if you're in there, you'd be insane not to deal with it while you have access, I totally forgot.

12k$ is a solid budget, 300whp with a turbo can be done easy and safely. Probably wont need injectors or pump but its pushing the limits of stock. your tuner can tell you when hes tuning if need be.

the biggest question is. what is your intended use for the car? daily, canyons, autox, tracking? and do you have access to E85?

12k$ can go a very long way for a pure spirited daily, or even autox, but you'll need all that 12k$ and probably even more for a reliable track car.

The supporting mods vary a lot depending on what you are using the car for.

for a pure daily, a turbo kit for 4k$ and license/dongle/tune for 1k$ could be all you really need to make 300whp.

but based on budget you can always add more things, like tires to actually put the power down, clutch wouldn't be a bad idea. A catch can, Oil cooler, and some sort of gauges for AFR and oil temps would be good for added safety precautions.
The list goes on depending on how extreme you want to get.

I'm running stock injectors + pump.

I have some free time so I'll list what I did:

Turbo:
SBD 500X Turbo Kit
OFT V1

Oil Gauge
Boost Gauge
Block 8 Gauge Pod
Drift Armor Front Bumper Crash Bar

Clutch:
Verus Pivot Bearing
Verus Clutch Fork
South Bend Stage 2 Daily Clutch
New OEM Flywheel
Motul 300 Gear Oil/Diff Fluid

Engine:
Mishimoto Oil Catch Can
Mishimoto Oil Cooler
STI PCV Valve
GrimmSpeed Manual Boost Controller

Design Engineering Heat Tape
Brass T (For BOV + Boost Gauge)
Worm Clamps

Oil switched from standard 0w-20 to 5w-30.

Bold is what I recommend. I also switched tires a long time ago from the stock 215 to 225.

problems? Depends on how you define problem. Any mod will have positives and negatives.

I don't jack about the RB engine, not one I ever paid attention to. Maybe a swap in a box exists for it, idk. But, I do know that LS swaps are almost common place at this point. LS platform engines are plentiful (made in the millions), durable, and cheap. K swaps are becoming easier and more straight forward as well. K's are also plentiful, cheap, durable, and light. Both have ready made swap kits with everything from mounts to ecm's.

As others have previously pointed out, buy a basic turbo kit, add a few mods to control heat, have it tuned, enjoy mid-200's to 300whp without too much worry. There is an entire section of the forum devoted to this topic. It's well covered. Just do what DarkPira7e said.

Yeah I guess I'm spoiled having two good tuning shops close by. And they are good with Subarus too not just Porsche and Corvette. All-Wheel Mustang dynos (not that it matters for the BRZ though). I'm excited to go see them it means I did a thing and they are going tune the car exactly and as good as she can be for what she got. (Well I tell them I don't care about gas mileage or anything but don't tune it so fine I need to come back when the weather changes lol)

RB's are old dinosaurs with their own problems.

There's alot of better, cheaper, lighter options than a 20 year old motor.

RB's were good 20 years ago, but using one as a engine swap, in a non-Nissan shell, is not the smartest option.

And if you need to ask where to even get the parts from, pay someone else to do the job for you.

send CounterSpace Garage a PM and they can and will get you squared away. If you have shops around your area, do lots of research. If you wanna make it slightly easier and have the dough, buy a pre-build set up like the Full Blown Motorsports or HKS motors.

I suggest you talk to someone like CSG or Element tuning who can go through the whole process with you, including installation and tuning. Those two have lots of experience with our platforms and have given out lots of free advice on the forums so are worth supporting.

Unless you are looking to make a learning experience of this. In that case get your google on. Start researching pros and cons of different setups. Get a rough parts list together and start talking to engine builders and tuners. Adjust you parts list based on the advice of those people. Make sure the people who gave you good advice you reward with some patronage. When talking to people make sure they have FA knowledge as it is quite a different motor to the EJs. Have fun.
