DS2500 will dust more then oems, but otherwise they seemed fine for me braking/noise/cold bite wise for daily use year round (mind you, my experience is purely with stock brakes).
Imho it's actually advisable and what most do - switching between dd & track pad sets pre/post trackday, to use best tool for a job and not run into shortcomings of either when used at not what it's designed to.

My understanding is that ds2500 and ds1.11 share same base close enough that re-bedding when switching back and forth is not necessary.

Ds2500 would probably survive typical track day sessions, I think with elevated wear at higher heat range. On the other hand they are so easy swapping pads just a small wrench and a socket, and a splitter to push the pistons back. Most work are putting car up on jacks, getting tools etc.

You would want to bleed brake fluids when putting in track pads anyways.

Ps ds2500 works fine in the cold NorCal morning temp ~40f. I don’t have experience of it in sub freezing temp though.

I used DS2500 throughout winter for two seasons, including temps of -20C and below. No worry. Also in many cases cold stops of racepads (DS2500 are not such, but hybrid, closer to street/OEM+ even imho) might be over-exaggerated, as it's not as if they have no friction when cold, simply - less then when heated up to working temps, and in some cases that "less" might be even more then friction coefficient of some street pads. Nevertheless potential issues of dailyed race pads of noise (sounding like idiot at every trafficlight), wear on rotors, dusting, still stay.

(truth be told, something like CSG spec C1 pads work fine even when you DD them, but they cost 2-3x times of most street pads and dust like mad (prepare to wash/clean wheels from brake pad dust every day or two). They brake fine and are not noisy though (on stock brakes) even when DD with them. But due cost, as it seems waste, & dusting i'm thinking of reverting to two specialized pad usage).

Does anyone have the red brembo brakes (as standard)? Thinking about getting these under my '13 GT86. Will they fit with the original 17" wheels?

The issue is that he wants the Brembos. I don't blame them Sometimes it's cool to want things, even if you don't need them.

They don’t fit under the stock wheels. That’s why they switched to the performance package wheels.

Another question about brake upgrade for track use. How does a brake duct (like the APR or verus kit) compare to an AP racing Sprint bbk in terms of cooling? Can factory calipers and rotors + brake duct perform as well as the bbk or will it suffer from quicker brake fade?

Exactly

Thx Thefalls, I was already afraid this might be the case.

With the right pads and fluid, the factory calipers work very well at the track for most users. Brake ducts will help.

A good BBK with the right pads and fluid will work better and be more "worryproof" at the track, including longer intervals between renewing components.

This spring I’m due for a brake refresh.

What are the options for light weight rotors for stock non PP calipers?

I know stock is 17lb/13.2lb F/R. Is $650 of 2-piece DBA5000 rotors the only way to shed weight from the front? I doubt I’ll be able to drive well enough to make $650 of value from them, but if there’s something a little more budget-friendly I can throw on since I’m replacing the stock rotors anyway, I’d love to.

Does anyone here know if the stoptech slotted rotors are lighter than the stock rotors? I'm trying to offset the weight I gained on each wheel.
