I have the valve spring recall information.

Information is out to the dealers. Letters should be coming to customers at the end of December. Different part numbers for automatics and manuals. Fluids changed will be the oil, coolant, and R134. Obviously. Figure a day and a half for repairs.

So what is the TSB for the spring change? Standard service manual change or time reduced shortcut change?

Oil, coolant, and A/C? I'm guessing the motor needs to come out, then?

The fact they would have to pull the engine was never in doubt. To access the heads it has to come up. The question is just how much of it has to come apart? Did they develop a work around shortcut as has been discussed elsewhere?

Out dated and inaccurate. There are over 400,000 vehicles involved as of the last reports.

Interested in this as well. I've got a little bit of a leaky timing chain cover, so it'd be good to kill 2 birds with 1 stone if it's got to come off and get resealed.

I heard some SPECULATION from a Subaru service writer. A lot of the techs and writers seem to think Subaru will replace the heads with heads that are pre-loaded with the new valve springs to save time and ease the install.

Again this is the opinion of one Subaru writer and a few techs. It seems plausible but I argue that the cost of new heads may outweigh the time of just replacing the valve springs. Crazier things have happened.

Really wish there was just one thread on this instead of one guy making a new one every time they have something to say!
