Retrofitting a 2017 brz limited tachometer?

Hey guys, do you know if this would be possible as a straight swap? I can't stand the old tachometer tbh!

Where would we able to get a part number & price from?

Probably because nobody has tried it yet. You'll need to do it and make a thread on the swap.

You asked a very specialized question on a Saturday morning and are surprised that you didn't get a response in a whole 3 hours?
You can't change just the tach the face is all one unit.
You can however buy all sorts of different faces for the one you have.

You would most likely need to swap the entire cluster since the new BRZ Limited cluster uses a digital screen to display coolant temp and fuel level (among other things). You would also most likely need a 2017+ steering wheel to control the digital display on the new cluster.

Heheh, AM and PM still mess me up sometimes too :P

But what everyone else said. You'd need to swap the entire cluster, there's already a thread discussing that. No one has done it so far AFAIK.

You better of buying a 2017 BRZ Limited with PP would be the easier way.

There's a thread on that as well: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...89#post2839589

Fitment shouldn't be a problem since other members have installed the 2017 front bumpers on pre-2017 models with the older headlights.

Wiring would be different though since the 2017 headlights have integrated DRLs while the pre-2017 models have DRLs separate from the headlights.

That is the worst way for those of us that have done performance enhancements.

I haven't checked prices, but I assume an entire gauge cluster assembly and steering wheel assembly is going to be at least $2000. Then you have to add the wiring harness for the steering wheel buttons, since the '13-'16 models didn't have any steering wheel controls. Then you have to hope and pray it all works together.

The gauge clusters are coded to the ECU, so you can't just drop in a new one. So you have to go to the dealer to get them to sync them up, which I'm sure isn't a routine operation for them.

It would be a $2000+ gamble to try it. Seems like a lot of effort. It really would be easier to buy a 2017. Most of your mods are going to swap over to the new car.

Yes the mods CAN swap over. But an entire drive train swap just for a gauge cluster is a little extreme.

"yay a new gauge cluster. Lets see, swap the engine over, trans over, suspension, LSD, brakes...."

if you have a fully modded out car with an entirely different drivetrain than the stock car, a gauge cluster is probably the least of your concerns. also paying all that extra cash to retrofit it would probably not matter if you have already dropped $15k+ into the car. if you have a stock drivetrain, I would actually think the 2017+ would be better since they modified the internals of the engine and a new FD
