Renew Registration W/ Valve Spring Recall

I realized today that I couldnt renew my registration until I get my vehicle repaired for the valve spring recall. My registration is due on 10/28/20.

What happens if Im unable to get it repaired by then? Not sure what to do at this point. Please advise.

You won't be able to register it. Get it done ASAP.

I see your location is in SD. And I know it’s a drive but take it to Longo Toyota. I had my done at some crap dealer and now Longo is doing the repairs after a rebuilt motor (engine blew due to recall).

This happened to me. I had to go to the DMV with proof of how long the repairs would take (it was like 3 months before my dealership could get the parts in), and they gave me a temporary registration. After you get it fixed Toyota will communicate that with the DMV. I am pretty sure I then had to go back to the DMV after the recall was done so they would give me my actual registration. It was fairly straightforward but still a time consuming headache.

Did my registration by mail. Got the registration asking for money and asking for proof of recall. Submitted both, received tags weeks after I sent it back. My Subaru was repaired by the dealer but I had to submit the proof of recall performed. Just an FYI-.

What if you were under recall and the motor blew up, dealer said no to fixing it, and you swapped another motor. How would I register it now?

You'd need all the paperwork showing proof of what you just said. Probably verification from the dealer that the swapped motor is not subjected to the recall.

An aside, but did it "blow up" because of a valve spring failure? If so you may have some recourse through Toyota corporate, although it may be too late now.

I actually called toyota corporate. they wouldnt even come out to look at the car when it was at the dealership. They said warranty was over and they just left it at that. I had to tow my car there and back lol. did it blow up because of valve spring? maybe not sure? i didnt open the engine up to look inside and i know toyota didnt either. just the fact that there was a recall for an engine was bad enough. lol

I renewed mine in July and didn't know I needed the recall done as well.

Did it at Longo and it's been fine
