Just before my time. However, my older siblings grew up listening to the likes of "The Lone Ranger" and Hockey Night in Canada.
Funny story, my two brothers got into a fight over what to listen to and decided to "saw" the beautiful wooden cabinet radio right down the middle. By the time my father arrived on the scene my oldest brother had already started and there was a huge kerf mark through the leading edge and partway into the top.
My father used wood dust/shavings, glue and lots of stain to try and restore the cabinet but... The damage was still visible when he sold it. He liked to say that it was that mark and the story behind it that made the sale.

I turned around from my keyboard and spotted my Uncle's old cabinet radio in the corner of my computer room. So I snapped a photo. Now this was used everyday and night until he got his first TV in the mid 60's. He still used it to listen to music or the hockey game if he was busy in another room. I think it only ever got two stations. CBC for hockey and a religious station that my aunt loved to listen to. (Hmmmm... guess I need to get the duster and vacuum out)

OK, which one is it THIS time? I remember my father taking the suspect bad tubes into the hardware store to have them tested. Yep, some of them were expensive -

Hmmm. When I was 6, I remember watching the original Power Rangers and Magic School Bus and that's about it lol. Fun fact, my FRS is red because that's my favorite color, and red is my favorite color because the red ranger "drove" a "T-Rex" and my 6 year old brain thought it was cool.

I can't remember ever not having internet in our house. I do remember learning about search engines and this fancy new one called Google when I was 8.

I remember when we got the internet at work for the first time and had to upgrade all the computers from 286's to 486's to handle the "graphics".

Oh I did this multiple times with my Dad but it was always for TVs, never for a radio. Good times.

The radio was pretty obvious, the one needing replacing had broken glass.

I remember them sounding pretty nice. PLL tuning was a big deal then. No drift! Wow!

Maybe - just maybe - that's the reason my first car was B&W -

Yep, back in my day, this was the first "search engine" I recall. My uncle left a set of encyclopedias at our farm before he moved.
