Not sure the benefit? Its electric assist, not driven by a pump...

I really like the steering feel. My wife's legacy has some weird transition points where it feels like the assist changes, feels unnatural. The BRZ feels flawless though, with enough weight to it to make me want both hands on the wheel.

Before you do, try steering without it!

Electric power steering doesn't load the engine until you steer and only for as long as you steer. No reason to delete it.

Subaru did a truly genius job on the power assist. It feels almost as good as the very best hydraulic system out there, ZF servotronic.

I prefer not having power steering. I took it out of my crx, dart, mustang, camaro and firebird. I am well aware of what it feels like to drive a car without power steering, but thank you for the concern.
I am guessing since no one answered the question that was asked that the answer was no.

Because the rack on a lotus was designed to be manual, ours was not

This seems silly, are you trying to save weight, is that it?

If it is a race car there may be benefits but if it is still being used as a road car have you tried steering the car without power? I find it physically challenging to do so at low speed. Ymmv.

Lotus has a very light font end, and I'm sure the rack ratio and steering wheel diameter are paired with a non-power rack in mind. Want stiffer steering? Get wider tires up front.

I'd be interested in deleting it if it saved weight AND didn't hurt the car. I have no clue how the system works or is set up in this car though. But I feel like removing it would probably be a bad thing. But I really don't know.

If anyone wants to explain or provide a link to a good resource that explains how it works, feel free. I'm not interested enough to search, but I'm always open to spoon-fed information. OP and others may benefit too.
