I just finished installing the 2017 engine into my 2013. Tried to start the car a few times but no go. I just started researching and found this thread. Dammit... I'm hoping an ECU swap for the 2017 one would work.

You dont need to swap ecu all same hardware and 2017 ecu program not compatable with older security system

What codes if any is ecu throwing, do you have your original 2013 rom in ecu , if you flashed it eith 2017 rom security will likey lock out, flash back the 2013, they usually tgrow some codes related to imobiliser if this occurred you will need to loop pins 4 to 13 on obd for more than 30 minutes with ignition on to resync ecu to security

Oh hey Steve. I didn't realize you answered me here already. No I still have the 2013 ROM loaded. I haven't had a chance to read any codes yet. I'm gonna see if I can find someone with a code reader.

If you got a tactrix cavle just download techstream, you dont need any drivers like vci as you can jist get techstream to use the tactrix drivers already loaded if you have used tactrix on same computer

That techstream site is dead. Oh well. I have to find my tactrix connector before I do anything else.

@steve99 Ok, just checked for codes today. It is a P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A circuit malfunction. My concern is that I don't want my car to end up like the one mentioned in this thread. I wonder if there's a way to change it in the ROM and not brick the ECU instead of having to take the tranny out.

Which sensor and sensor wheel did you use? The newer 2017 or your old 2013 one?

The 2017 one is in there now along with the 17' crank trigger wheel. All the sensors and wire harness are from the 17'. I had to swap the alternator to the 13' though because the connector for it was on the main harness.

So you are using the new wiring harness with the 2013 ecu and drivers (other small computers to run injectors, etc.)?
