Hi Guys... What kind of oil Temps are you guys averaging?

Mine seem to have crept up after I boosted but I never paid much attention to them before.

First Pic was highway driving tonight.

2nd Pic got close to 270 in the hills naer Santa Barbara last weekend.

What does the model year of the car have to do with oil temps?

Perhaps none. Perhaps some. Minor engine tweaks on 17+. Just trying to gather numbers.

The car needs an oil cooler stock

Boost exacerbates the issue. Stock I hit near 220 during autocross and I space out my runs to cool down.

I have the forester XT regulator routed through the throttle body and I never see my temps anywhere near that. In fact, they almost always stay below 225 unless I'm driving really hard.

270f is way too hot. I assume you are on 0w20?

Time for an oil cooler and I’d let it cool down if you ever go above 250f which may be hard to do with said cooler.

I personally think 225f is where you want to be in terms of max temp.

You need to correlate oil temp, oil pressure, what type of oil and what grade of oil.

Synth oils don't mind temp to a point, but you need to watch the oil pressure.

Plus using E85.

Plus length between oil changes.

I run at about 120° Celsius when I'm up it, but only for short periods.

Turbocharged with Forester heat exchanger.

Currently running Penrite synthetic 5w 30.

I really need to get an oil pressure gauge.

I also need to find the best place to mount it to get an accurate reading.

It's on my to do list.

I’m not an expert on this but fwiw with 0w20 oil pressure drops quickly at these high temperatures which can reduce engine internal lubrication.

Luckily winter is around the corner so you’ll have a lot of time to pick out an oil cooler before you need it.

It has nothing to do with the year, some to do with being blown, and mostly to do with engine speed.

An oil pressure gauge along side a temp gauge will motivate any sensible person with a stock engine to look into an oil cooler. Don't cheap out. Get a good one.

Oil Temp seemed great this morning otw to work. Was low 50's outside.

Might as well plan on getting the Jackson oil cooler since they got all my money so far with my boost build

It looks like your coolant temperature is getting kind of high. Isn't the first tick mark the 190 line?

If my car is moving at all, it never goes above the 190 range no matter what I do.

My car is factory stock and I recently got my oil temps up to perhaps the 245-250 range (visual estimation) on some mountain roads around the Tail of the Dragon area over here. I'm planning to do the OEM style oil cooler at some point.

Hav a 2017. When I boosted put a forested oil cooled on and temps stayed a about the same with normal driving. 160 or so Texas summer driving. Switched to standard oil cooler and temps went to 120ish. Did a track day last weekend. Temps in the 80’s. After 20 min session temps were in the 140 range. I am running 5w30. I would switch to 5w30. If you are heading to the track get a cooler.

Crap... Based on everyone's input my system has been running hot for a while on both coolant and oil.

I didn't start paying attention until I boosted so for all I know it could have been high when NA.
