Only one way to find out. It wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer underrated an engine's output. The 2004-2005 Dodge Srt-4 was supposed to have 230hp to the crank, but in reality probably made closer to 250hp.

There isn't anything weird on this. Subaru AWD models like WRX have a bigger loss rate and a bigger difference between crank and wheel power.

Yeah, but all cars have a loss between crank and @ the wheels, but manufacturers always quote the crank hp. That's what I mean. You'd think that if they were able to squeeze 20hp more out of it that they would actually want to advertise it as being at 220hp @ the crank, especially considering all of the complaints of the car being underpowered...

I am with you. I would prefer to advertise it and promote a 215-220hp @ crank instead of hide it and saying that the first engine was not really there. Anyway, let's wait to see what will happen ...

Maybe they don't feel like revealing everything about the car months before it's released? Maybe they don't want to piss off people who recently decided to buy a MY16?

It's not, but that's the impression I get from some of the speculation posts. Good point re the recent 16 purchases.

Not to mention them not wanting to prevent people from buying current models up until the day the 17 comes out. Of course this could all be wrong an it could actually make less power!

I like speculating as well, but some of these guys carry it a bit too far. Like I said, I want to believe, but it would have to take a significant mechanical upgrade and not f-ing up the original intent of the car to get me on the hook. I'm not the target market anymore.

I am seriously liking the SF-R. Do you think the next-gen-mid-cycle-refresh-upgrade will look more aggressive and have a turbo?
