It's nice at like 38F too. I actually think it is like 25F that it quits now that I think about it. It worked during our little snow flurry except for the morning it was in the low 20's.

Someone listed a damn MIG 29 Fighter Jet for sale... I didn't even know you could buy, let alone fly modern warbirds in the US! I wonder if you have to call before every flight so you don't get shot down by mistake?

Anyone got a measly 4.5 mil lying around?>

And something around $10,000 an hour to pay for maintenance and fuel to operate it.

It's just a plane. File a flight plan, and keep your transponder on and you are good to go.

A lot of these go to agressor contractors or other businesses.

I wonder where it was in service. 1986? I can neither confirm nor deny that I may have waved at the pilot at the time.

Yeah, I live near Moffett Field and it's pretty routine to see fighter squadrons that belong to government contractors coming and going from/to training missions. I'm sure they need all sorts of clearances/certifications but they're still civies who get to fly said planes, which wind up owned by the company.

Yea this isn't unusual at all to see privately held military aircraft. All you need to do is go to the warbirds line at an airshow like Florida's Sun and Fun, or the big one, Airventure in Oshkosh. While a lot of them will be prop planes for the WWII vintage, there are plenty of privately held jets as well.

This page has a good selection of them from Oshkosh 2010 at the bottom.

Yes, to be able to legally own it, it has to be demilitarized, and also was likely purchased somewhere outside the US. The US will not sell demilitarized fighters to the public, but they will sell their surplus to nation states who then will sell it later based on their local rules.

Lol, what is ITAR...

The Russians on the other hand will pretty much sell anything to anyone.
