Anyone Using (or Used) a GoPro Hero 4 Black?

I want to record in and outside of the car during street driving and canyon cruises. This will be for a GR86 and my concern is the 40 series tires will cause too much vibration for decent video and I may just need to get one with stabilization.

Should I sell my Hero 4s and buy some hero 8s instead? Or have any of you been able to found a way to mount a GoPro handheld gimbal in the FR-S/BRZ that may fit with the GR86?

I am trying to save money and not buy four different cameras if possible. The angles I am planning for are inside windshield facing road, inside rear windshield facing road, inside each door window facing the road. Then I will mount them at various positions on the outside of the car.

If you have any videos or pictures with your setups and the results it would really help too. Thanks!

Your bigger problem is going to be getting decent audio with wind buffeting than getting decent video. Just mount stuff semi solid, and video will be fine

I didn't really think about wind buffeting. Thanks for the reminder. I guess I can save the money for tires.

Anyway, I think GoPro Hero 8 is much better than GoPro Hero 4, Hero 8 has video stabilization and other advantages, but it is more expensive. So the choice is yours!

Drag times has a audio setup guide with a parts list to build a good go pro audio rig. Covers everything you need including a fuzzy thing to filter wind noises.

To help with the sound issue maybe a dead cat would help.

What a funny technical term we have for a windscreen…

I have Zoom audio recorder and a dead cat helps a lot!

Maybe it's call dead cat because the sound only bounces once?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am going to try the 4 with a pretty solid mount and a mic with a dead cat and go from there. I am fairly certain the markup I will have to pay on the GR86 is going to put the GoPro8 out of my budget.
