The fact is that most people might just say 1000/1500 more for a Subie is suitable and will go there.

I believe that Scion has its mind right, these speculated prices are a tool to get u to hate the price of the car now, but as soon as Scion says 22.5K(More or less) for a base they are gonna have a nice group of people who are gonna buy this car.

As for me i was gonna put down a deposit for this car shortly after Christmas but i think ill wait for more info on higher end models.

Pros about the FR-S

True Toyota Heritage in mind
Spring Rates and Dampners
Agressive front end

Cons

Non LED Headlights
Busted ass HVAC Controls(No Auto Climate Control)
No P2S(Push to Start)

If Scion Offers LED Headlights, upgraded Climate Controls, and P2S Count me in. Otherwise im leaning towards Subie.

Hope it closer to $22k as well. That being said, If the Scion really is 24k, my bigger worry is that the Subaru might be closer to $27k... and well... Lets just pray that's not the case.

The push button start is a cool feature. The Prius has it. Most cars are coming wiht it these days. Basically, if I have to put a key in an ignition already, then I see no point in a push button start. If it's a proxy key and push button, then that would be cool. Otherwise, I'll just turn the key one more click. I would like to see it on this car.

As to price, the cheaper it gets, the more diluted it will get as well. I don't want to pay $35k for the car, but something in the upper 20's would be fine if it was the fully equiped model. Personally, I think it should have come out in the US under the Toyota badge and just leave the Scion brand for the 16- to 20-year old demographic where it is now. If I get one, I'll likely do a JDM badge swap just to clean off the stigma of Scion.

This car looks really interesting and is definitely in the running for a daily driver. Hopefully, it will still have that same feeling once it's in show rooms. I'll worry about features and options then and if it's still the car I want, I'll probably buy one.

Surprised nobody else noticed the tape or whatever by the temp gauge.

It's probably nothing, but it just reminds me when a customer trades in a car with the check engine light on and they try to hide it...lol

Ha! Nice find! I didn't even notice that. I'm sure they were flogging the car pretty hard to cause it. heh.

Super stealth.

Some of you people are driving me crazy. They give us a lightweight bare bones sports car and you're bitching about a keyless entry push button start! Who cares! Gimme a key. It's simpler. That way when the car doesn't start you don't have to wonder which of a variety of things could be malfunctioning. Nope...just one thing, the starter. Maybe you're better off in a Lexus?

And as to foreign exchange rates it's not that simple. How ignorant are some of you? You can't just convert something and be like oh wow look how expensive that is. You need to factor cost of living, import tariffs and taxes and a few other things into account. People in Europe love to complain about how expensive everything is but their taxes pay for a lot of stuff. And if you don't like it change the government or leave.

After reading this Automobile first drive I can say...it was utterly worthless.

You're looking at an FR-S and a pushbutton start is a must have item?

I think you're looking at the wrong car.

Reread his post, he's saying that he wasn't bringing it up because it was a must for him, but because of something else. He just forgot a couple comma's that made it read differently than what he meant.

What? Are you even reading my post? Here is exactly what I said, which clearly shows that push to start is not a must have for me (notice the word wasn't), but for those that are interested in this option, they are going to be disappointed that this might not be an option on the FRS. Hope this clears up your confusion.

Again, I do not want to be lumped into the "cry baby" crowd, I am merely pointing out what I have stated earlier:

No way Scion offers everything Subaru will have as options to thier base model. Scion is going to offer base model with different add ons, but those add ons will never fully match what will be offered by Subaru.

FRS will serve low to mid market and BRZ will serve mid to high market.
