NA Tune OTS or Dyno?
After talking to some other people I am caving in and wanting to get my car tuned better by someone who does them all the time and looking for recommendations.
Car has full exhaust (including JDL 4-2-1 header), cold air intake and runs on 93 octane gas only. Is it worth going with an off the shelf tune or will that only find the "easy gains" and dyno tunes will get significant gains over that? Located in Detroit area if there is someone local anyone has used already. Last edited by Yetti; 09-09-2022 at 09:03 AM. |

Look up OpenFlash Tablet BRZ/FR-S/86 Tuning & Support on Facebook. And or Steve Wiseman on Fb. He is the go to guy for OFT tuning. Reasonable rates as well.

Steve and Wayno are your best choice for an off the shelf tune.
No off the shelf or dyno tune is going to amount to much of any gains. Some torque dip improvement and minor drivability adjustments, that’s it. Add a flex fuel sensor and get a tune from Steve, Wayno, or Zach (at CSG) to see the most NA gains on this car. |

Also probably should have included car is currently running ECUTEK and is used for STX Autocross so must stay 93 octane fuel.

CSG being a noteworthy vendor. They did a friend's car recently and it pulls nicely. Zak has the process down to a science. Pretty straightforward logging procedures and quick turnaround time. |

That is another good point, anyone willing to share what they paid for a basic dyno tune (even just a touch up and map smoothing)? I have spent quite a bit of time running engine dynos and are familiar with the rates however personal car on a shop's dyno I only have guesses.

If you want to get the most from mods, multiple iterations custom tuning, preferably with before and after dyno runs. *Highly* recommend Zach at CSG!

If you're already tuned for 93 with ecutek what do you stand to gain? Nobody who spent too much on a custom tune is going to admit it.

I was mainly seeing what someone has paid for a custom tune even if it was the first pass on the tune with the new modifications. |
