Picking up my FRS ULTRAMARINE should I get cquartz?
Hi everyone I'll be picking up my 2015 (A/T) FRS, i've read so much from this forum and helped me out a lot. Now im thinking of getting cquartz soon as i get my car. What do you guys think is it worth it? I talked to a detailing shop here in ohio it will be around $650 or higher. I plan on keeping the car for a long time. Thanks in advanced!

Why not! It's good protection against the elements and keeps the car shiny after washes.
You might want to consider requesting the dealer to not wash the car, or pre prep it to make sure there won't be any scratches. So the coating process will be alot quicker as prep time can be reduced. |

Sorry, but it's an A/T so not worth preserving. I'd save the money for the inevitable M/T you're going to want to replace it with.
But congrats just the same. I hope you enjoy the hell out of it. |

Have you considered Opti Coat Pro? Cquartz only lasts 2 yrs. Opti Coat Pro is 5 yrs.

These cars certainly have very soft paint (easily damaged), for sure...as others will attest to.
So just any paint protection is most likely a good idea. And a caution here for any new owner: There is just no way to judge just where the front of the car is from the driver's seat, additionally just 4.9 inches of ground clearance in stock form. So watch out for those parking stops...many have rebar sticking up...it loves to tear a front bumper when one pulls out to leave. Last edited by ToySub1946; 08-24-2015 at 11:12 AM. |

Also as already suggested get a clear bra before you do anything. I wished I had done it before I had Opti Coat Pro applied. |

I had the Opti-Coat applied 02/2014 and water still beads like crazy. To me the biggest plus with opti-coat is the ease of cleaning and the fact that dirt just won't stick to the car. Every time it rains, it's seems like the car semi-cleans itself.

A clear bra is the only thing that will actually protect your car from rock chips. If you do a lot of highway driving, your front end will look like swiss cheese in no time at all without one. It's not going to block every stone and you'll find the odd ones that hit either right above it or along the side of your car, but I saved myself some nasty, nasty dings in the paint. Also, as a side benefit, it keeps bugs and bug guts from eating through your paint. It's a lot easier to wash them off the plastic bra than it is your paint. If you're like me and inevitably get lazy washing it every weekend, you'll be glad when you realize you'd have had a nice etch in your paint from where a particularly juicy one hit that you don't notice.
I got mine for $700, including labor from a local tint company that does most of the dealership tints here at the Automall in Tucson. It includes full front bumper, the hood to about 2/5 the way up, side view mirrors, door cups, and door edges. They wash the car and clay bar to remove imperfections in the paint. Took almost 6 hours. I won't ever buy a car without getting tint and a bra. If I didn't tell you it was there, you'd never notice. Has a 5 year warranty against peeling or yellowing and isn't UV resistant so your paint won't age differently underneath. You can wax over the top of it without issues. |

Find a local detail shop that does clear bra installation because it'll be cheaper unless you want it included in the cost of the car.
If you decide on Opti Coat Pro look for a authorized installer for it. http://opti-coat.net/approved-dealers.php?state=OH As toeout mentioned, Opti Coat Pro makes washing the car easy as the dirt doesn't stick to it. Yup, the beading of water is amazing and the water just sheets off when washing. |
