Welp, mrs humfrz and I got our first dose of a COVID19 vaccine (Moderna) today.

It was a painless experience. We had an appointed time, drove about 20 miles over to the little town of Gig Harbor. It was a very well organized event. We drove in, showed our reservation form, filled out another form, rolled up our sleeves and got vaccinated.

Although I had packed a lunch for us, after seeing some of the nightmare lines and wait times, we arrived, got signed up, got stuck and waited 15 minutes - all within 30 minutes. We will be schedule to go back for the second shot in a couple of weeks.

It's been 7 hours since we received our shots and neither of us are experiencing and adverse effects.

We are feeling relieved that we got the first shot -

I'm telling you, even though we had mild cases of covid, it lingers for weeks or months. I've had it since the end of November, and I totally think it is still with me and the wife. We went to the doctor and he said their is nothing you can do, that your immune system is just still fighting it. One day you feel ok, next day so tired and achy you don't even want to get out of bed.

I just wonder what the long term effects will be.

One of the gals in my wife's Blue Star Moms group has had it for 6 months. She is 50, used to work out 5 days a week, and ran marathons. Now she has 30% lung function, serious voice box damage, and is really f-ed up. Doctors say the damage is permanent. She was never hospitalized. So sad.

Sounds similar to another friend. He had it beginning of November with a bit of fever and the usual loss of smell/taste, technically "recovered" around the end of November, but even now has issues like you just described.

Truly very sorry. I worry every day for Mrs. Ultra going into that hellhole pharmacy.

I guess it will one way or another. Regardless, it is a fascinating time to be alive.

How did you get up front in line? Here, they are telling us April at best for our age group. I told them that I am now a store checker?

Over 50 in a multi-generational household. Long story but it's been a full house for almost a year now. No regrets. Just happy to be there for them.

Now they are booked thru March for just the 65+ crowd. Looks like it will be May or June for 14-64 General public at best.

Vacci-Nation

Being in the military, covid vaccines are readily available if you want to be a Guinea pig. You have to answer some questionnaires and sign a waiver. The higher ups are all getting it while the bottom feeders like us are refusing. The problem here is there are very few information about the side effects of the vaccine. The gulf war Syndrome ring a bell?

Until then, i refuses to get it. The military has stuck me with smallpox, JEV, anthrax, and who knows what else. At least let me choose what deformity i get.

In my part of Texas it's turned a wild west shootout. The primary local vaccinator is not adhering to the 65+ guidelines. They publicly announce a clinic and it's like hunger games race to see who gets there first. The registration form asks for DOB but it doesn't matter what your age is. In a sampling of 20 and 30 somethings I know almost all of them had gotten the stick.
