The only requirement i had was heated seats, and a/c. I wish i could have ordered the car with crank windows, manual locks, and radio delete.

Another common complaint is that the 370Z is 'dated'. So what? In what way? As long as the chassis still offers competitive handling and weight, what's wrong with it being some years old? .

So many people whine about the lack of simple, analog sports cars, with pure, linear, naturally-aspirated engines, engaging manual transmissions, with good performance at a reasonable price. Nissan continued to sell the 370Z which provided all of those, and almost no one bought it.
I replaced the stock system on my 86 with a Kenwood unit that has Apple Carplay, and a capacitive HD touch screen with backup camera and front camera integration, and it is a big improvement. The problem with some cars is that the MMI is proprietary so changing to an aftermarket system means losing features. Sometimes those features are necessary. I don’t know about the 370Z, but blasting music while hitting the canyons is a big thing for me, so an upgradable or good system is important.

The 350Z sold much better than the 370Z. Either they lost market to competitors and fell behind, or the changes weren’t enough to get people to upgrade and buy a new model instead of a used model.

See above. The 86 is an aftermarket unit, but it has navigation, so it is expensive, but most manufacturers are dropping navigation, yet they aren’t doing what the 86 did, which is just stick an aftermarket system in the car; their MMI is proprietary and integrated in multiple systems. This can be good and bad. Good for features like system health checks or backup cameras, bad for the fact that people can’t upgrade the headunit.

Porsche recognized this issue and provided upgraded head units and MMIs to past generations.

I do not know how you do that. We do not have canyons in the east. We have hills, ridges, hollers, gullys, valleys, cliffs, mountains and the twisty roads that connect them mostly through farmland or forest. I never have my headunit on. I am listening to the symphony of the engine hitting the revs and nearing shift points plus the rhythm of the tire noises as they fight for traction through the corners. Loud music blasting away would distract me and prevent me from hearing the sounds that I want/need to hear.

I upgraded my headunit to a FR-S unit back in 2013 but I can count on just my fingers the number of times it has actually been turned on while driving. I love the sounds my car makes.

But I do understand that for many buyers (not necessarily you) the infotainment system is one of the most important features in a new car purchase and manufacturers make huge profits selling them that stuff so that is not going to change. Sometimes I wish the Japanese manufacturers would offer the stripped down variants of their models like they do in their domestic market.

Music is important enough to Gordon Murray that the T50 has speakers. That is saying a lot.

They aren't dropping it so much as moving it into the cruise control system. It's required for self-driving and they can charge a premium for it.

Personally, I won't buy a car that doesn't have a moving map display in the head unit, or I can't upgrade to one. I have no desire to use my phone for navigation.

For clarification, dropping it and just using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Yea, I knew what you meant. Basically switching to assuming you want to use your phone.

Apple CarPlay maps is faster and better than native navigation, and it is a faster user interface.

Personal choice, but I don't do Apple and unless you are traveling at 150MPH not sure what difference map speed makes in a car.
